What is your experience as to buying Crisis of Conscience?
by Goldminer in.
i've read a few very interesting stories about people's experiences when they decided to purchase coc.i'd like to share mine and read yours also.. in 1999,not long after we purchased our first computer i started reading material about jw's.before long,i got really interested in the ray franz story because even up here in northern ontario,i had heard about the apostasy of 1980.in the fall of '99 my wife decide to take a college course(bucking the jw trend),and she would stay at her sister's place during the week.one day i called a christian book store to see if they could get me this book.i was very nervous, changed my name and i wouldn't give them my phone number.i told them i'd call back in a few weeks to make sure they had it before i went in to pick it up.. when the day came,i picked up my courage by two hands and took off for my 40 mile drive to get my book.the book store is located in a small shopping mall, which had me really nervous that another jw might see me going in or out of the store.i walked in the mall looking around, making sure there was nobody in sight that i knew.when i walked in the store,i had cash ready in my hands, walked up to the counter, gave my fake name and the book i was purchasing.now i just had to walk and make it to the car and i was home free.. i know buying a book isn't that hard,i do it all the time, but at that time the implicationsof having this book in my possesion was tremendous.. anyways,it's been 5 1/2 years and still nobody here knows.the book has really opened my eyes and mind to the realities of the wts.i would definitely recommend this book to everyone here who has yet to read it.it's worth the effort to acquire it and will take away your fear of the watchdollar.

I have been wanting to read both of Bro Franz's books. Crisis of Conscience and In Search of Christian Freedom.
I was hoping that at some point an electronic copy would be available. But to this date, NO.
I have to be discreet................ If the 'you know who found out' there would be problems :)
So If anyone has any suggestions..............let me know.......I have no problem paying...........its the discreet part...............

New BLOOD Watchtower - June 15, 2004 Issue!
by UnDisfellowshipped inthe watchtower, june 15, 2004 issue, pages 14-24:.
" for the benefit of current readers, the answer is reprinted on pages 29-31 of this magazine.
19 near its conclusion, the reprinted answer on pages 29-31 says: "does the fact that opinions and conscientious decisions may differ mean that the issue is inconsequential?

I probably am only reiterating what others have said..................but if its a conscience matter.....than what matter does it make? To state the this 'particular aspect' is wrong but this 'particular aspect' may differ among different christians is nothing but confusing to the onlooker and outsider. Bottom line is,,, blood is blood,,, the orginal intent of the law must far out weigh the modern disection of molecules and their substances. Its kind of like taking the bill of rights and the orginal constitution of the usa, and trying to apply it to circumstances of modern society that the founding fathers never intended it to be.

The Watchtower Bible & Tract Society is...Outsourcing
by truthseeker ini received news from an elder i know in another congregation.
he told me that things are changing in the way that bethel is running its operations.. i was informed that bethel no longer makes its own ink, but buys it from other companies.. even in the bethel kitchens, there is no more watchtower chicken - meat is bought from outside, this i believe also goes for milk and dairy products too.. can anyone confirm this?
i have reason to believe it is probably true.. i wonder what would happen if the wt suppliers go out of business?
-
researcher
Not that I am defending them,, but what is the big deal about outsourcing some stuff? If you can save money, why not? Doesnt prove anything negative..........................so they buy ink? I have to buy by own ink.......... :) The cutting of costs is in relation to the drop in donations......................now we can discuss that and compare it to what Russell said in a paraphrased way 'when the funds no longer cover the expenses, that will be a sign to stop printing the watchtower'........................Wonder if that is ever discussed at Bethel? Maybe the 8000+ of the anointed should have a convention to consult with one another as to what is truth these days................that way it then, and only then can be said that the Faithful and Discreet Slave has made a recommendation. ramble, ramble, blah, blah.....

Automatic DA?ing of anyone taking a blood transfusion, now in the U.S!
by cyberguy ini recently talked to a jw ?elder?
friend of mine, who said that they just received a letter (us) from the society, stating that they should ?da?
anyone who takes a blood transfusion.

Here's a thought.......................If its a conscience matter..............why every year is the material gone through in minute detail as to which blood fraction is a conscience matter and which blood fraction is not a conscience matter..........that one person may choose to accept a certain blood fraction and another person may choose not to accept it, both in good conscience? And I hear in some parts of the world its not even necessary to update the 'blood card' anymore.....when at one time serious frowning was done against those who let their cards 'lapse'...... Yes it is, No its not......changed my mind, it is again.......
And every year right on time the plea for cash, cash, cash,................donate ,,donate ,, donate.......As George Carlin said once about the Catholics who preach about the almighty god who owns everything, ......yet always seems to be a little short of cash................................hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Service meeting - Don't talk to disfellowshipped ones at the Memorial!
by truthseeker inat the service meeting last night, we were told that even at the memorial, we should not talk to disfellowshipped individuals.
also, i don't know if there is any truth in this, but disfellowshipped ones are generally not invited to the memorial.
when did the "memorial season" begin?
-

Yeah, kinda like one service meeting I was told about recently. Some dubbie was quoting a recent assembly talk,, and said '"did you notice that brother xxx used the word ' imminent'? You know what that means? IT's JUST AROUND THE CORNER!!!" I know what it means,, just search the WT Library CD for the word, imminent...........the word was used in articles in the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, and now in the 2000+..:)
The only question is,, how does this relate to 2Pet 3:4???? :) Just asking,, not preaching...................

Anybody hear about the new confidential letter sent to bodies of elders in
by researcher incanada re the freedom of information act.
when someone moves to a new congregation a letter of introduction is sent.
usually the elders use this opportunity to list all the negative things about the person or family so they have a black cloud above them for years to come in their new hall.

Canada re the freedom of information act. When someone moves to a new congregation a letter of introduction is sent. Usually the elders use this opportunity to list all the negative things about the person or family so they have a black cloud above them for years to come in their new hall. Well, this new confidential letter instructs the elders that after reading the letter to destroy it and not keep it in any congregation files. Isnt that interesting. Talk about covering up something.......................by destroying it.....................

Is this a subtle through back to the Oral Issues? Do not they read their own publications? After disfellowshipping who knows how many the WT of 1978 offered a correcting view................... Yet,,,,,,,,,,,does not the Oct 15 WT try and get back into 'privatate bedroom activities'? So, my second question is ,,,,,,,,,,were those who were disfellowshippped to 'oral' reinstated with the explanation that OOPS we make a mistake????????????????
w78 2/15 pp. 30-31 Questions from ReadersBeyond these basic guidelines the Scriptures do not go and, hence, we cannot do more than counsel in harmony with what the Bible does say. In the past some comments have appeared in this magazine in connection with certain unusual sex practices, such as oral sex, within marriage and these were equated with gross sexual immorality. On this basis the conclusion was reached that those engaging in such sex practices were subject to disfellowshiping if unrepentant. The view was taken that it was within the authority of congregational elders to investigate and act in a judicial capacity regarding such practices in the conjugal relationship.
A careful further weighing of this matter, however, convinces us that, in view of the absence of clear Scriptural instruction, these are matters for which the married couple themselves must bear the responsibility before God and that these marital intimacies do not come within the province of the congregational elders to attempt to control nor to take disfellowshiping action with such matters as the sole basis. Of course, if any person chooses to approach an elder for counsel he or she may do so and the elder can consider Scriptural principles with such a one, acting as a shepherd but not attempting to, in effect, "police" the marital life of the one inquiring.
Interesting isn't it???????????? Or is is?
