I also saw this just a couple of hours ago, was waiting until I could log off after. I don't have many words, but now that I'm typing a comment ... I have tears. Devastating. Sorry doesn't seem to cut it. But for what its worth , I'm so sorry for your loss. Damn

Wearing Masks/ China&Other Asian countries
by caves ini've been reading that in asian countries if you go outside without a mask on, your looked at oddly and with disapproval.
it seems they have been wearing masks for years.
yet uk/us/canada/ and other countries do not.

I'm trying not to cross over into a thread that is already going, but I'm all for mandatory masks and get back to work.
Especially after what I'm reading about other countries wearing them as the norm. I really don't know what to think.
I can imagine it would be viewed as an overreach of government.
This reminds me of a paper I read on the advantages of a dictatorship. (not all dictatorships are bad) and NO I didn't say we are in one in the US or headed towards one. But there are some advantages in a pandemic. Like making people wear one. * Im just saying, I'm not advocating AT.ALL!
From what I'm reading most of it seems voluntary in these Asian countries. I could be wrong, I'm just learning of it.

I guess I'm a little taken aback. Mainly from the hysteria about our "rights" being taken away by more and more places requiring masks.
Its so normalized in these countries that they even use them as fashion statements.Have fashion shows with masks as part of the style.
I had no idea.
Also before I go to far off the point , which really is, that these places already wear them and have for years.
Why in the world would say, having a mask as requirement for work or gathering in large groups be considered as "My rights are taken away?"
Clearly this pandemic has shown us how useful they can be in slowing transmission down. Or am I missing something?
Mask-wearing went from seasonal affectation to year-round habit. Today, Japanese consumers buy $230 million in surgical masks a year, and neighboring countries facing chronic pollution issues—most notably China and Korea—have also adopted the practice.

https://qz.com/299003/a-quick-history-of-why-asians-wear-surgical-masks-in-public/
I don't want to think that I have to wear a mask for the rest of my life, but .... well, what do you think about it?
I have seen the studies that say masks don't eliminate pathogens from getting through the masks but it does slow things down...
Do you think this will become the norm in the countries that have not been wearing them?

Do You Think It’s Time For Businesses To Reopen Even Though Coronavirus Is Not Obliterated?

Rub, you are trying to start a shit storm with your last comment. Open a new thread about it so it can bite the dust. Dude really? , so uncalled for!
I most certainly have an opinion about what you are referring to.
Simon has very clearly stated not to go there. Please don't ruin Minimus thread.
The question here is a pretty important question the whole world is asking and I for one would like to see others reply's and not have to wonder if its going to be hijacked by some unrelated bull.

Not sure on how to tie this into a JW topic, but has anyone seen Ru Paul lately. Just flipping through the channels ...
by RubaDub ini guess boredom is setting in (i am not interested in seeing football / baseball / basketball /hockey games from five years ago).
i am switching through the channels and there is ru paul and several "friends.".
i'm not sure of which pronoun to use, but ru paul looks like a football player and not the thin, svelte person that was the ru paul of 20 years ago.

Once you see a drag queen do a back flip off a 6 foot high stage in 6inch stilettos with a perfect landing and doesn't miss a beat in preforming, Rupaul seems like nothing. I saw that in 1997 in austin tx at club 51.
I think Rupaul has given the LGBTQ- xlmnop- kjhsp( how many letters are they going to add to that)lol. Community a bad rap. As if that community needed the help.
What I don't like bout rupaul is that in the late 90's he fucking straight out lied to the entire gay community and said that he was not gay and happily married and that he only did drag for the money and entertainment. Of course most of the gay community saw through that bull crap. I consider him the worst type of two face double standard coward. There is nothing noble about him. Unfortunately the newer "labeled" generation laps it up.
Totally like watching a building on fire and a train wreck in slow motion.
If it were not for Lawanda Page, Rupaul would probably not exist as she is the one who catapulted him into success.
Speaking of Lawanda Page.....

Alone
by Youngaposthate inhey you all, i'm honestly pretty depressed on my own out there.
it's quite terrifying being on your own out there in a lone wolf kinda way.
i'm not sure how much my brain can tolerate this mest up feeling of social abandonment caused by the borg and family.

I think you will find many of us here get exactly what you are saying because we have felt that way in one way or another.
I get the feeling of ' not sure how much more my brain can take'!
I've been there to many times to count.
Like Pete Zahut said, Staying in the NOW helps a lot. Also don't be afraid to call a hotline. I've had to many times and it helped. ( just a note on that as I have much experience with calling hotlines, sometimes you may get someone that is flippant, or abruptly hangs up because of time constraints or the caller they had before you is literally out on a ledge and called back and they have to dispatch the call. If that happens 'no one ever warned me that it could , so it took me by surprise and hurt me',) ...simply call back.
Definitely try finding a therapist asap. In the meantime and during please do come here and share your feelings, as many here can relate.
In time and perhaps not so very far off in the distant future you will find that you are stronger than many people around you because you went through this.
I have friends that would crumble if they had even 1/16 of this happen to them. That fact alone makes me feel more empowered within myself.
The feelings of wanting to die considering what you are going through/have gone though are absolutely normal. It completely sucks on every level.
Please do reach out here.

Two weeks ago I would have said no.
But if we don't there will be nothing to save.
I totally agree with Fink it is a damned if you do damned if you don't.
For Americans the stimulus money was no where enough. If they took care of the people "like other countries are doing" then no. But they are not.
I say open back up and those that want to stay home then they should do that.
If people are being evicted left and right (despite some states non evict measures) it wont be contained anyway with mass evictions. Got to reopen sadly.

Rub-I'm not sure of which pronoun to use, but Ru Paul looks like a football player and not the thin, svelte person that was the Ru Paul of 20 years ago. Wow.
But then I guess we all tend to "enlarge" over time.I'm pretty sure "It" doesn't know what pronoun to use either. RuPaul was sort of interesting 20 years ago but
this "thing" on tv now only needs the pronoun of "Money". Or 'freak of nature'.
This "he" "she" 'it" 'Thang" needs to go away.
What I wouldn't mind watching is Rupaul milking a cow in full on drag at his hubby's ranch.
The attitude RuPauls character displays on tv is appalling to me. I know people find it entertaining, but I simply
do not.
Yes Rub, boredom must really be setting in.
