Thank those that allowed me to participate with some not so readily acceptable posts that you may not believed. Thank those of you that let me add my own comments, no matter how odd or weird. For those that think I am a little crazy you may be right, those that thnink I am a lot crazy, you may be right.

I wish all of you happiness (even the ones that piss me off) and wish you much luck.

When and where baptized

i thought it might be interesting to see how many here remember where and when they were baptised into the borg.

for some the memory may be too painful, but i'm curious.. me.

it was 1966 in vancouver, bc.

It was at Barton Colliseum in Little Rock, Arkansas. I think the year was 1973 or 1974. So I was 12 or 13....

risk taking

well, i'm getting closer and closer to turning my life upside down and breaking away from my 43 years of conservative living.

any risk experiences out there?.

the risk i want to take is leaving banking, living a much more bohemiam life, maybe work as a waiter or bartender or something, go to school, travel, work on my furniture art, write, read, live.. aaaack.

It's easy for me to say go for it, however I am not you.

However, since you asked....why not!!?!?!?!?!?! Angel has an excellent point, you can always go back to work. Life is so short why not live each day (moment) to its fullest?

I can say from my work experience that I would not trade any of the risks I have taken for almost anything.

My most recent "risk" was to take a job back in Texas so I could spend more time with my wife and little girl. To enjoy life...is it perfect, no but pretty damn close. Beyond spending real time with my wife, I am getting to see my little girl develop and grow each day.

All you have is right now, don't let there be any would've, could've or should've's in your life! I have read that the only person that likes change is a wet baby....or it would at least seam that way sometimes. However, change and taking calculated risks (as MrMoe says) can be exillarating and scary. Put that is part of the fun...the carousel is fine but I like the roller coaster.

Prejudice and being a JW

prejudice stems from fear.

often people are afraid of what they do not understand.

perhaps jw's are persecuted as they say, but they persecute others as well.

From what I can remember, the JW's were and still are very prejudiced. They would not allow an openly homosexual person to be babtized, and that person would not be accepted. I can also remember, being not only raised as a JW but also living in the south, the segregation was very evident.

When I was around 15 I had a GIANT crush on a hispanic girl in another congregation. I was told flat out that because she was "mexican" that is was a little more accepted for me to like this girl, although , if she were black it would be forbidden.

Can you imagine, I was told this by not only my mother, but also by an elder?

I never realized until that point in my short life how prejudiced and controlling they were.

Not a very good example of "Christ like" behavior, would you say?

i found this place, purely by accident, and have been very amazed, at all of these touching, personal revelations, that many are sharing, here.

i actually was doing a search, jus tryin to learn how michael jackson's appearance came to be so radically changed..(that's a whole nother topic, and i came away, feelin sorry for him, after all i read, but, another time ) and ran across this forum.

im 41, was "raised" in the truth, my mother and her whole side of our family are long time witnesses, my father converted when i was around 4 years old.

Welcome and as a fellow southerner, you will be able to relate to this place because "we treat you so many different ways, you are bound to like one of 'em". Actullay a great group of people for the most part and like many of us have shared experiences that we can all relate to.

I'm 40 and like you, I was doing what I thought I should do during that time in the early 70's and that was to be babtized. Furtunately, your father had the wisdom to help in your decision to really consider it.

Why is a wonderful question! You should use it on occasion. My 2 and a half year old does this quite well already.........

he was talking about food, clothing, shelter and supplication to the least of the brothers.

he could not be talking about anything else and here is why: could any human offer jesus spiritual food?

I have enjoyed this thread so much. The JW's have abused and forgotten the Golden Rule and who truly are thier brothers. This is evident how even "blood" brothers are shunned, much less help a strnger.

What is the real meaning of life?

i mean, if we have been created by the evolution then, our life really have no purpose.

we live about 80 years and then we die and it's finish.

it seem really dull to me.

What should we name the baby?

i am due in the middle of october and my husband and i cannot come up with a name.

i almost had him sold on venus, until he asked people at work what they thought and he got wierd looks.

i wanted to name the last baby sidney, but let him name her because he has never gotten a chance to name a kid before.

What a fun time for you! I honestly can't even begin to help with a serious name. I remember my wife and I had decided on the first name of Savannah for our daughter. The middle name was still out there, although we had discussed several. When she was born and we were asked for her full name, we decided at that moment that Savannah's middle name would be Blaze.

We had discussed the name and botrh liked it, however it wasn't until we she her that we knew.

By the way, at 2 and a half, she lives up to the Blaze everyday.
