  I've got a little more experience with meteors and fireballs than most people and from what you have described it sounds almost like a text book fireball. There are occasionaly sounds like what you described that have been observed that can be very localized and last for quite a while. Can't exactly explain it myself but have heard quite a bit about it. For some reason they are often heard before the actual fireball is seen but not very long (if at all) after it passes. No one can really explain why this happens but it has been known to happen many times. The fact that there was a lot of UFO activity that same night doens't mean that there really were UFO's that night because it could just as easily mean quite a few people saw the same bolide (large fireball). Not only that but ones of good size can easily be seen across many states and still not hit anything (or could crash in the ocean even if it did hit).
  I'm really envious of you not because I wish that I could see a UFO but I would have loved to have experienced such an incredible bolide.
  As far as my personal beliefs, I do believe in alien life and UFO's whole heartedly. I don't really know if I believe the abductions and whatnot but I can very easily see our planet being visited by species from other planets. Even if we aren't visited by anyone then I can't see how we could be totally alone in the universe. To borrow a line from the movie Contact describing the possibility that we are alone in the universe, "It sure seems like an awful waste of space."
  That being said, I do believe in UFO's but I very seriously doubt that was what happened that night. Email me privately as I would love to get some more information from you about this.

  Elders never visit

  am i the only one here who has never gotten hardly any shit from the elders?

  true, i was never baptized but i was jw for 21 years (born into it).

  i was able to weasel my way out of various meetings for about a year then i got married and moved out of my parents house and just totally stopped going all together.

  Well, its not that I really would look forward to seeing them again or anything like that, its just that I spent a long time around these people and then basically just dropped off the face of the earth. They never stopped to ask why I did so. If I were in a group of people for years and years and then all of a sudden one of them was just never around anymore I'd wonder what the hell happened to them. Guess it just goes to show the oh so warm loving caring they always talk about.
  Not that it really matters now but also I would like to go back to one of the counselings that I had so many of back when I still believed and just tell them to shove it. So it might take some of their time and be hassle for them. So friggin what?!?! They took a lot of my time and it was definitely a hassle for me so I would LOVE to return the favor to them.

  Bethel Doctor--Is it me, or was this odd??

  i was at bethel with my now ex-husband in early 1982. at that time, they did a tb test as part of the physical when you started.

  mine came out positive for exposure (though i did not and have never had tb), probably because i had worked as a receptionist in a hospital x-ray department.. the weird bit is that the bethel doctor insisted on giving me a gynacological exam.

  as i was only 22 at the time, and butt-stupid, i went ahead and let him.

  You've not done anything to feel guilty about. They're the ones that are wrong and are trying to get you to come back to the cult. Don't do it man, and don't even think that you're guilty because you have done nothing to be guilty about. Who cares if they think you've done something bad? Their versions of good and bad are warped so badly its not even funny.

I was able to weasel my way out of various meetings for about a year then I got married and moved out of my parents house and just totally stopped going all together. I never heard from anyone about anything. I wasn't visited by the elders or anything. After about a year and a half I emailed one of the elders and told him to pass it on to everyone else that they can take their cult and shove it. I once got a call from the KH but that was during the time one of my best friends was being DF'd for apostacy and I wasn't home and wasn't left a message (gotta love caller ID). I live within a few blocks of my KH too. Well, I did get a visit one time but that was only because they were out in service and apparently didn't realize whose house they were at (that was fun). I actually kind of wish they would come pay me one more official visit to either try to get me back or threaten me just so I could tell them to shove it to their faces.
  Is my experience the only one out there like this?

  This is concerning your web page problems.
  Anything, especially Word, made by MS cannot produce a good web page. Have you ever looked at the code from a website made with Word? Oh my god! Talk about a bunch of fluff that you don't need! I'd say purchase a program called Dreamweaver 4 by Macromedia and you can import Word documents and clean up that horrible horrible MS coding to have smaller, quicker, simpler, more reliable pages.
  Also, I agree with Simon, upgrades usually end up bad. Its kind of like building something on top of a sandpit when you upgrade to fix a problem. Its almost always best to go with a clean install. MS stuff can be kind of buggy sometimes. I remember one of my old users was having a problem with her wheel mouse in Excel. I checked MS's knowledge base to see if there was anything there. There was. Their advice you ask? Don't use the wheel. #%&*#$@!
