I also thought the one they used for shunning, something like if you love your family more than you love me, you are not worthy of me.
For me it seems to apply more for becoming a christian and leaving the borg than ignoring your own children.
They like to talk about the opposition they face when becoming one of jehovah witness but the real price to be paid is when you leave. The same can be said for a Muslim becoming a christian.

Would you kill for the org?.......YES I WOULD!
by olongapo joe inso, a few years ago my jw parents, my non jw sister and her husband, and myself were discussing religion and jw beliefs.
my parents of course defending the jw's, the rest of us, against jw's ( it may not have been specifically against jw's, maybe just religion in general) anyway, things are getting a little heated, and i finally ask my pops, if the watchtower bible and tract society told you to go out and start killing muslims, would you do it?
yes i would, was his reply, to which i say, then your not any different than the radical muslims killing in the name of religion.

The other night I was watching this program with my wife called “the 90s “ the last great generation. They had a small piece on the cults and mass suicides of period. They went into some detail about the tempar knights cult and how they believed it was doomsday and it was best to not be alive during the great tribulation etc etc.
She asked me to turn the channel. I could see it upset her kind of.
It gave me just a glimmer of hope.

The really sad about this place is I could post some anti-Christian lecture by Bart Herman and all the minions here would pipe up how enlightening it was , without realize the foundation of Carrier and Ihram believe are basically polar opposite of each other.
I came to this board to for tips and how an UBM can cope or even perhaps even get my wife to escape this evil cult. I also thought ex-jws were really sincere people who just couldn’t live the lie anymore.
The reality the ex-JW community is just bunch self-congratulatory liberal arts d-bags who figure because they read a Dawkins, Hitchens, Carrier, Ehrman book you are automatically a historian, archaeologist and evolutionary biologist all at the same time.
God, I think I would rather hang out with a car load of circuit overseers sometimes.

Evolution is a Fact #11 - Tiktaalik
by cofty inone of the biggest gulfs that life has had to cross was the transition from sea to dry land.. fish have conical shaped heads, reptiles have flat heads.
fish have no necks; their heads are attached to their shoulders by a series of bony plates.
land-dwelling animals all have necks; their heads can move independently of their shoulders.

The Heresy of Neutrality
by Perry inthe one thing that keeps jw's worshiping the watchtower corporations more than (or as much as) anything else is the issue of neutrality.
neutrality is such a benign sounding word isn't it?
it even sounds religious.

What are the biggest holes in evolution?
by shadow inhow honest are the proponents of evolution?
idk but curious to see what type of response there is on a topic like this or does their study only seek to confirm their preconceptions and ignore uncomfortable facts?

The lack of transitional forms.
The incredible complexity of such organs as the eye.
The development of instincts in animals.
The sterility of crossbreeding in animals.
The relative quick advance of modern man compared to the species and a certain self awareness not found in other species.
( a two second copy and paste will keep tips busy all afternoon. Evil laugh ha ha ha )

Preaching = Salvation... NOPE!
by Divergent intoday's text:.
monday, january 25. to the extent that you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.—matt.
25:40.. early in his discourse found in matthew chapters 24 and 25, jesus indicated that the sign of his presence would include a remarkable feature—the good news of the kingdom would “be preached in all the inhabited earth.” (matt.

I was trying to find a good commentary about faith vs works on the internet the other day and got frustrated. Finally I just read the entire Chapter of James 2 to see if I was missing something.
Once I actually figured out the context , James was really saying “ Don’t claim to be born again or saved by faith “ while ignoring the poor and people in need. There really is no conflict with Paul and Romans.
The ironic part is the watchtower is so critical of the false religions of Christendom for using outreach work while quoting James and while the chapter is about it is our Christian duty to use outreach work, while the WTS won’t piss on the average person if they were on fire.
Man, it takes a special kind of stupid to be a JW sometimes.

I know a guy that was DF and worked as a purchasing agent for a school board. He needed to buy 60 computers. He decided to send in a request for a bid to his uncle the elder who owned a computer shop.
All he got in return was an email saying he can’t talk to him.
So much for treating a person like a gentile or man of the nations. He couldn’t even be civil on a professional level.
FYI. The computer shop is now bankrupt and he works as a janitor.
