I remember reading an experience about a sister whose unbelieving mate got a job in some remote area where there were no JWs. She lost contact with HQ, but she remained faithful. She went out in service on her own, re-read her old WTs and books, and held her own meetings. All by herself.
Some people would carry on, even without the WTBTS.

all the kh suits are now pushed to the back of the wardrobe and i am seriously thinking about a visit to the charity shop to get rid of most of them.. for me one of the (few) enjoyable aspects of being a jw was getting dressed up.
my secular work very rarely involves putting on a dress suit & tie so i miss getting dressed up - smart suit , tie , shiny shoes , slapping on the aftershave.
Shoot, I don't even own a skirt now. I hated pantyhose. So, hell no.

i am a jw rule breaker, and i have never been a "rat", as logic dictates i am very trusted with people's dealings (inner circles of local players).

My ex-husband resigned from being an elder because of the lack of "spirituality" on the body. He couldn't take it.
A couple of years later he was at the district convention and went to volunteer to be an attendant. The bro at the desk asked, "Are you in good standing?" Ex answered yes. Then the desk jockey asked, "Are you a ministerial servant or an elder?" Ex answered neither.
The desk idiot shot ex a look and said, "I thought you said you were in good standing," and refused to sign him up as an attendant.
It's all about numbers anyway. Number of hours in FS, number of comments, number of meetings.

One evening while my father was out at an elders' meeting we were watching "2001: A Space Odyssey." We were just at the part where the apes are using bones as tools when Dad walked in. He freaked out. "What is THIS?" and made us turn it off.
Dad would "tsk, tsk" so often at song lyrics, TV ads, whatever, that my brother and I used to poke fun at him, saying, "The Tsk Force is on the alert!" Oddly, he found that funny.
