  I married into a family like that! One time I returned a library copy of "Watership Down" (it's a fantasy story about rabbits) because my husband was convinced there was a demon in the book that caused us to argue.

  gas station witnessing?

  i was getting gas today and up pulled a car that looked familiar.

  these witnesses are my parents neighbors and they tried to turn me in for smoking pot, unfortunately for them, they told the elders it was the wrong person.

  there is a girl that floats to diff halls, she looks like me.

  I couldn't watch the whole thing. It's another "hurray for us" moment. Sure, in a disaster situation it's easy to volunteer a day or two to show brotherly love, but what about day to day? That's where the rubber hits the road.

  the wife just got back from the service meeting tonight and she is pumped!

  apparently, i need to buy her an ipad for field service.

  they had the demos outlined in the km and she is really excited about it.

  JWism- Bibical Conversion or Cult Indoctrination?

  something that always bothered me when i was in was how long it took someone to become a jehovah witness.

  many accounts in the bible had people becoming a christian immediately, overnight, or in a very brief time.

  with becoming a jehovah witness it was always like a cult indoctrination rather than a bible account conversion.. here are the steps as i remember them.

  As I recall, the explanation for the instantaneous conversions back in the 1st century was that they were all Jews, so they already knew the "truth" with the exception of accepting Jesus as the Christ. So, a short chariot ride or talk in the town square was sufficient to "convert" them.

  Evidently, the early Christians didn't worry too much about the character of the person like JWs do now. After all, the apostles were constantly ranting about bad conduct in the congregations.

  sorry if this has already been discussed.. but at the service meeting this week on jw.org it was clearly stated by our cobe that pdf's from jw.org that are emialed to interested persons count as placements!!!.

  okay folks, next time you get a circular spam email, copy all the recipients and there is your contact list.

  email thousands of people watchtower pdf's and watch the placements soar through the roof!!!.

  hi, i read a lot on here, and i am still active, i get about 3 hrs a month in service so not really that active.

  i know there are ones on here shaking their heads at me, i do believe the basic teachings, what brought me to post a thread was a thread that hit home, the topic of dating in the oganization, it brought up a lot of hurt feelings for me.

  see, i used to pioneer and i basically burned out, i was working mon wed friday sat and sun 2nd shift so i could go to the meetings on tue and thurs.

  I never dated while JW, but at 18 I was pushed into a bad marriage that I worked hard to make better. Worked for 27 years to try to be the perfect JW wife - submissive, diligent, respectful - and nothing ever changed.

  Finally I realized that JWs were not the true religion and that exploded my reasons for sticking it out in a miserable marriage. Left 'em both in one fell swoop and haven't looked back.

  So, yes I'm single.

  my wife and i were slowly leaving walmart's parking lot in el dorado (that's arkansas) last night and i did a double-take.

  my wife said, "what are you doing"?

  as i swung around to circle back to the row we had just left.

  GSD - That's a quote from English poet George Herbert.

  I always believed that if I drew away from Jehovah my life would crumble and I'd be under constant demon attack. I feel that having a successful life away from the Borg proves that wrong.
