Has the GB ever explained how they receive "new light" from Jehovah?
by cobaltcupcake ini remember a long time ago the explanation was that various anointed ones would write to the gb with the same new understanding of a teaching, the gb would investigate it, and if it was acceptable, they'd pass it on to the r&f.
of course, now we have the new light that new light occurs only to the gb, not the anointed at large.
so, if any anointed ones get new ideas, they're just apostates, right?.

And what about the fact that in receiving new light they're communicating with the spirit world? How do they know it's from Jehovah, not Satan?
And why did I ever believe that a bunch of old men in Brooklyn had a direct line to Big J?

I actually loved my two weeks at pioneer school. A chance to study with no distractions. Too bad it was interrupted every so often by field service.

typical circuit assembly
by nowwhat? inon the plus side there was good council about families and then there is that special feeling of the brotherhood you get.. on the negative side, the d.o.
gave the "ol talk about the "busier we are, it won't seem like the new world is taking so long" talk.
that's fine if you do'nt work for a living.

I remember going to a JW Super Bowl party in the mid-80s where the game was so bad that we stopped watching the game and started watching only the "Bud Bowl" commercials.
I don't remember these parties being any kind of "trap." We behaved ourselves. Sheesh!

The derisive term for the "annointed" - cracker eater:
by james_woods ini owe this one to palmtree (from an outside conversation):.
i had forgotten it, but way back in the late 1960s, when all the "real annointed" were pretty old, and the whole organization seemed to be run by the "other sheep" - i think somewhere between 1966 and 1968, i first ran into this term:.
"cracker eater" - a dispespectful term for the old, presumably senile, truly pre-1935 era jw annointed.. here is my nearly-forgotten story:.
