Is this the only "graphic novel" they've produced? If so, why this story? Why not something pleasant, like Jesus blessing the children?
They used the wife of Lot in their connect-the-dots pictures too. Why are they so hung up on that story?
as a comic book fan this makes me cringe!!!.

i don't really remember where i heard this... either at a public talk or a district convention or c.o.
visit or something.. .
my question is, has anyone else in there time with the org heard that said?
I remember that. It made me think of a quote from "What About Bob?"
"He's so far above us. We're just ropes on the Goodyear blimp."
i am a long time lurker who has finally decided to post.
i am still in along with my wife, kids and extended family.
i am in my 40s and was raised in the org.
Welcome!
op based on mr. freeze's topic - could attending the meetings/studying again sway any of you back to the org.
hearing the propaganda over and over again is pretty powerful i'm sure.
(i'm a non-jw, non-christian (no offense), stubborn as a bull and even i had moments of pause based on some of the doctrine (lasted 30 seconds) but i never had family/friends at stake or a background in this.
i stay at my grandmother's house and pay a little rent to her (r500) as it is all i can afford.
i do however buy and take care of all my own food, washing etc.. this morning at 6 am, my bedroom door opend, slammed shut, heard the key turn a couple of times, open and slam shut again.
i woke up with a fright as that has never happened....first thought is someone is in the house.
Jeepers, LouBelle! I think that door stopper is a really good idea! And good for you not responding in kind and calling the police.
distance from jehovah (not jesus).

I remember that 1973 article on chess. Everyone started throwing out their chess sets. Then a few years later suddenly it was okay again.
i've read a few people mention making up the figures for the field service reports, and i want to find out how common it is.
i never lied on my report.
sometimes i'd round up 15 minutes if i'd mentioned jw stuff to my brother that month, but that wasn't falsifying.
Toward the end I started putting one hour on my slip. I didn't want any elder coming after me about it. Although, I was so angry that I think I scared them all off anyway.
so 2 weeks ago i received an email from the po... he wants to give my wife and i a shepherding call very soon... but get this... he mentioned that they had already made shepherding calls to the entire congo and we were the only ones left... i don't know whether i'm i supposed to feel loved or despised (by that completely irrelevant comment).
he's probably doing this to impress the co who is probably visiting soon.... my response to his email was basically: no problem... please feel free to stop by anytime... however, no need to come with a second person.
i would prefer a 1 on 1 meeting (not 2 on 1).
They want two of them there in case you confess to a disfellowshipping offense. If there is only one elder there you could recant your confession and they couldn't prove that you actually confessed. If two of them are there they have their required two witnesses.
no one will take my intent to da or df seriously.
they called me again (three brothers this time) and asked me to meet with them.
i had no intention of doing so....simply told them there was nothing to talk about.. .
You did well! Now, live your life on your terms.
"The tone was of love, so I did feel a bit emotional"
I'm sure Jim Jones' tone was loving until just before he handed out the Kool-Aid.
i went looking for convention releases by year and i did not find a handy source.
so i've started one.
help me complete it, my friends.
Holy moley, the hours I wasted sitting through those things.
I love that list! Brings back memories. I was in the drama "Beware of Rebellious Talk" in 1981. Guess what prompted them to write that one?
It's so interesting to see the change to 4-color programs and then back again.
