i can remember all the while i was in the cancer that they would trump up the value of pious-sneering.
one of those was the "joy" of serving jehovah full time.
they would always have these fantastic stories about how they had obstacles that they foolhardily disregarded, or that they got all these people into the cancer.. this is full of rubbish.
I pioneered for a year with a car group full of elderly people who did nothing but complain about their health, tell the same stories over and over, and not really do any field service.
Everyone had a magazine route, so two weeks out of the month were spent doing everyone's magazine calls, stuffing the mags in the doors and driving off to the next door.
It was a year in hell, let me tell you. And I was made to feel like spittle on the sidewalk when I quit.

...is the name of a video i will shortly be uploading to youtube.. but can you guess the identity of the person who coined this unusual phrase?!.
who will be the first jwn poster to guess his or her identity?!.
i can hardly cope with the suspense!!
Why on earth did I swallow that claptrap for 32 years? Nice video, Cedars!
My elder ex-husband used to give a talk on independent thinking, and I probably heard that talk 15 or 20 times. I agreed with every word of it back then. Now, just the thought of someone telling me that independent thinking is wrong and dangerous is nauseating.
"Thinkingest?" They don't think. They read the same crap over and over and memorize it. That's called "spiritual maturity."

i have pioneered every time i possibly could, gave talks... i was a good jw!
but for over 40 years, i had nagging doubts about the character of god.
to make a long story short, i'm now a happy atheist!
It takes courage . . . you must cross a void where you believe nothing.
Sizemik - Bingo! I've been in that void for years. Having been duped so thoroughly I am extremely hesitant to ascribe to any belief system that claims to have "the truth," least of all organized religion.

well.....i am now officially on the precipice of divorce.
it started last tuesday night.
my wife brings the kids home at 10:00 pm after the meeting....then dinner....then ice cream.
You are in a tough situation. My thoughts are with you. I've been through the hell of depression without medication, and I wouldn't do that again. Nowadays, you can take a short course of meds, just to get you over the hump, and then you're through. Be sure to check that out.

too much info with my wife too soon, or too little , too late with my kids.. it all blew up today.craziest day of my life.
i made my decision.
You are lucky! I hope she holds to that opinion as time goes on.

"trustworthy bible chronology".
"indisputible facts".
"faithfulful and discrete slave".
The odd life of Jehovah's Witnesses" is not an oxymoron- it's a redundancy.
Onthewayout - It's the name of my blog with the link above it.

this past week my sister called and ask if i knew my oldest.
daughter was in town.
she lives in a different state (1500 miles).. my sister was invited to a baby shower (my nephew baby).. now get this, my ex (jw) and her husband when they are in town.
They must be deliberately blinding themselves to the fallout. When I tell people I'm being shunned by my elderly mother and my brother they are shocked - I mean really and truly shocked to their shoes. It ain't good PR, that's for sure.

so, i know of a real talent show that took place at a kingdumb hall about 10 years ago.
there was never another talent show.
but, the jws all loved it and still talk about it.. is there a "rule" or something in the elder's manual about this?
I don't think there's any rule against it, except you don't want to brag or draw undue attention to yourself.
I got to attend a "Family Night" at Watchtower Farm once. My brother produced and starred in a bit that was set to the music of "Pirates of Penzance" but was about the different types of Bethel service (commuter, temp, regular, etc). It was very clever.
Another time he told a long funny story at Family Night, and the GB were sitting in the front row.
If they do that at Bethel, then why not in a congregation?
