My ex-in-laws went one time when they had all the "old-timers" in for the 100th anniversary. They flaunted it like it was a huge privilege.
My bro and sis-in-law went every year because they were Bethelites.

hello, i renounced my belief/faith in the watchtower society a few years ago, though i am still a bible believer.
since departing from them, i have studied the bible aptly to try to understand it's true teachings.
i decided to start publishing essays in the hope that my research may help enlighten other disillusioned jw's by seeing alternative viewpoints, or at least pointing them in a direction that would help unlock their minds when studying the bible.
That whole judicial committee thing is not scriptural. I'll order one of your books. Thanks for letting us know!
if you are happy in a cult clap your hands!.

today if someone claims to be the son of god, we naturally think he has some type of mental problem, and in some cases like charley manson, jim jones, and other too numerous to give a list here,, they get a groups of followers which share the same delusion, sometimes bringing tragic results.. the governing body delusion of being the spokeman for jehovah, has also resulted in a big number deaths.. so what about jesus christ?
was he delusional?.
take a read of this:.
I think it's a made-up story like so many other son-of-god myths. Bunch of malarky.

The Odd Life of Jehovah's Witnesses
i recently attended the second day of the 2 day assembly for safeguarding your mind.
the first talk was entitled "feed your mind at jehovah's table".
the first portion of this talk specifically targeted apostates warning members to not listen to them "even if they were once strong in the truth or had great responsiblity in the congregation".
"we are near the 100 year mark, we are getting close to the wire."
Would I be taking it out of context if I were to quote him as saying, "we are near the 100 year mark, we are getting close to serving the Kool-Aid."
That's what I'm afraid of.

The Odd Life of Jehovah's Witnesses
our friend, oompa, has passed away.
just recieved the news a couple of hours ago, and have almost no details.
it happened today or yesterday, he took his own life.
RIP Oompa. Such a tragedy caused by a vile cult.
there is a lovely site where one may light a candle for a moment of silence.. http://www.gratefulness.org/candles.
i set up a group, where they may all flicker together, if you like.. http://www.gratefulness.org/candles/candles.cfm?l=eng&gi=oompa.
(we love and miss you, oompa.).
I've lit one. Such a tragedy.
and i am finding the adjustment to the real world far more difficult than i ever imagined...i f...it has been about five years since i totally woke up to the fraudulant nwt and then all my other doubts i had carried for years were proved true as well.
but almost all of my few friends are exjw or slack jw's and i feel so isolated...my sons friends are mostly exjw too but not their gf's and they have way more normal friends .
how have you done at replacing lifelong friends and family?
Rest in peace, Oompa.
Vile, bloodsucking cult.
i have noticed that lately everything that the watchtower "reports" is spoken of in the third person.
they take the role of "reporter" and use terms such as "they" "them" and "the witnesses".. notice this "official" report about their massive nwt braille bible:.
http://www.jw.org/en/news/by-region/world/six-foot-bible/.
Does anyone remember the praise for the NWT that they printed? I can't remember where, maybe in an Awake. Who did they drum up to write that drivel? Did they write it themselves?

The Odd Life of Jehovah's Witnesses
well part 5 was just put up on youtube!
this is the third 45 minute segment of the 3+ hour meeting.
topics covered include:.
I'm really surprised they sat and listened to you that long
They must have been curious. They let you speak uninterrupted for such long periods that they had to have had their interest piqued by what you were telling them, things you knew that even they didn't know.
Your composure in the circumstances is the stuff of legends. Well done!
