I hear you. That fact smacked into my brain one day, and I'm still coming to terms with it. I'm 53 and I was never even supposed to graduate high school.

I grew up not fearing old age
by Sour Grapes inas a teenage jw, i grew up believing that i was not going to finish high school nor would i get old and have to die like my grandparents did.
well, i did finish high school, as did my children and my grandchildren and old age has not been kind to me.
i don't like to look at pictures from 40 years ago, from a time when i was healthy and i had the goal of "stay alive till 75.

Any Elders comments on latest idea about Sisters
by truthlover injust finished our 2 day and one of the talks by the do indicated that single sisters in the congregation are to be subservient to all male brothers in the hall..as well a widow too is of the same "status".
is this a new thought or just now an open secret?.
personally, i dont think that is good - after all there are many elders who although, supposedly appointed by hs, can be personally involved with porn behind closed doors or nasty with his wife and family.. i personally know of two like that .... why should i listen to a "stranger" about my life?

Anyone remember the comment that the WT gave about how sisters are not to disagree with brothers, even by expressing negative FACIAL EXPRESSIONS?

Ever just want to run away.
by LouBelle injust give up the job, the house and go somewhere where life moves at a slower pace and there are not as many electronic intrusions?
only thing to get to a place like that costs money.. if i had my way, give all of this up for a quiet life on a little small holding that can look after my needs..

"People in the world imagine Armageddon as some type of nuculear destruction, however it is going to be the best thing that every happened to the earth." With the above said everyone just nods in agreement
Looking at the cover illustration on the January 2013 Washtowel, I suspect every JW will be soiling their underwear if they're anywhere in the vicinity of those fireballs.

Jesus- an invention of the Roman Emperors
by designs inhere's one to critique.
the flavian family- vespasian, titus, domitian had the jesus character invented, which could account for the many errors on judaism in the gospels.
it was an answer to the jewish revolt in that it developed a pacifist group who relied on superstition- this is why the gospels appear after the jewish roman war.. flavius josephus= arrius calpurnius piso.

That is interesting. I remember the WTS publications saying that there was more proof that Jesus Christ existed than there was that [insert name of other historical figure] existed. If the Romans invented him that could be why there's so much proof.

Ok. I'm confused and slightly stunned.
by Left in the Cold inon pages 54 & 55 of the "what has religion done for mankind" book the following quotes can be found.
considering adams decision to eat the fruit with eve it is written, "the woman was not to consult her husband first on the matter of eating, although god had made him first and had used him to construct the woman concerning the forbidden tree.
no, but she was to exercise woman's rights and show him she had better judgement.".

So although a woman should not cower in fear and permit a rapist to intimidate her, at the same time she should treat him understandingly, as a fellow human
I think I remember reading that article and thinking it was stupid but then my JW brain fungus kicked in and accepted it.
