With this new declaration that the GB = FDS it seems to me that they are consolidating power. With family still on the inside my biggest fear is some sort of eventual Jim Jones lunacy and actual Kool Aid.

Are They Cynically Shutting Down The Organization?
by metatron ini've raised this idea before but recent events seem to support it.
changes in the watchtower may be guided by more than a need for cash flow: they may simply be liquidating/shutting it down as discreetly as possible.. of course, this doesn't mean they stop working on their upstate ny country club - but it could mean that the throrough going exposure and disproof of their beliefs on the internet, when it emerged, took many of them by surprize, as it did many of us!
after awhile, they generally gave up trying to make any sense of their doctrines - and coupled with cash flow issues - moved towards a quiet retreat.. take a look at a few things:.

Were you afraid of "apostates"?
by everchangingworld ini remember hearing rumblings of a few that had gone "apostate" and feeling absolute dread of the dark world they had stepped into.
i would re-double my studying efforts.
to me, "apostates" had gone over into the "dark side".

There was a house in our rural territory where we knew apostates lived, and whenever we were out in that territory someone would point and say, "That's the apostates' house" in much the same way you'd say, "That house is haunted."
Eight years into my journey to the dark side I'm surprised at how light and airy it is out here!

Back in the early 90s. I remember shortly thereafter when my brother, a Bethelite, came to visit and I greeted him at the door with the scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail where the monks are marching and chanting.

I didn't want my name connected with that pedophile-hiding cesspool, no matter what it cost me. I DA'd with a two sentence letter.

Normal Anointed?
by Unbrainwashed publisher1 inhas anyone ever met a professed anointed partaker that was normal?
i mean for a considerable amount of time, not just in audience listening to a talk?
no offense to any professed partakers on here, but the ones i have spent time with have all seemed a little off has that been your experience?.

For several years I knew a really kind and gentle brother who was a partaker. He was normal. His grandfather, on the other hand, who was also a partaker, had a few screws loose.

Has the WT ever apologized for changing their stance on something?
by Left in the Cold ini'm in the middle of reading coc.
it's very eye opening.
but on thinking about how the gb finally changed their stance on allowing civil service instead of prison when a christian was face with military service, it makes me wonder if the wt ever apologizes for any reversal of beliefs it imposes?

Don't they say that in order to be forgiven the offender has to display fruits befitting repentance? That includes apologizing and taking steps to right the wrong. It's a shame they don't follow their own teachings themselves.

When You Were Sitting During The Meetings What Were You Really Thinkng About?
by minimus ini used to listen to all the stupid comments and wonder if i could sneak out of there and scram!
even after i resigned as an elder, i went for a while and eventually began missing more and more meetings.
but while i was there, i'd listen to comments, chuckle to myself how dumb it all was and then go home with the knowledge that my days were numbered there..

TS - Right on!
I would be thinking, "OMG, he can squeeze his missionary service in Honduras into every freaking comment he makes."
"Yes, Brother Folksy, we've heard that story at least 50 times."
"She's got 3 inches of gray roots showing. Why doesn't she get it touched up?"
"If that kid doesn't stop kicking the back of my chair I'm going to turn around and stare at his mother."
"If you've got a bad cough stay home for pity's sake!"
"Why does he keep wearing white socks with his suit?"
"The 'ch' sounds like a 'k' you moron!"

Having a humble education, the conversation with her will be limited to JW interests.
Although the above statement is not true, the same could be said of the JW husband.
