'No Announcements' - Big Mistake!
by The Searcher inwe are only a few short months into the "no more announcements - let them read the notice board" at the meetings, and now the effects of that new directive are beginning to reveal themselves: no information being given out regarding someone's loss of a relative, no information about someone who is ill or been admitted to hospital, and definitely no information about families moving out of the area and going to other congregations!!.
however, announcements about "special" christmas day field service must be made!!.
the import of the apostle paul's words really seem to have gone over the "decision-makers'" heads - (galatians 6:10) really, then, as long as we have time favorable for it, let us work what is good toward all, but especially toward those related to [us] in the faith.. coupled with the removal of the weekly group book study, the detrimental consequences of eliminating fellow-feeling and closer contact with one another can only lead to one eventuality - alienating one another!.

I find it very curious that they've made the meetings shorter and eliminated the bookstudy. Even district conventions are shorter now than they used to be.
The magazines have shrunk and gone from bi-monthly to monthly.
How can they spin all of this to mean "the work is speeding up as we get closer to the end" and "God's army is advancing?"

Volunteering in your community
by noni1974 inhow do you feel about it after the jw's??
personally, i was never much of a fan of volunteering for anything.
i just didn't understand what people got out of it.

It's the one thing that I always wanted to do when I was a JW, and it infuriated me that they kept telling us that field circus was the best way to "serve" the community.
I got a chance to help out at a GED-preparation program for a few months, working with the students (who were doing self-study) on whatever they were learning.
If you can get involved with a "Hands On" program in your city, they have tons of projects that you can help with.

Wow, this totally infuriates me. It's almost like a hate crime not even to tell you that she's getting married.
@jgnat gave you some fantastic suggestions. Good luck!

by GromitSK ini would be interested to hear members' views on:.
a) what they would consider to be a supernatural ability and.
b) what they would consider sufficient evidence to convince them it was genuine.. (it's late here so if i don't participate for the next few hours don't think i cut and run :)).

My best friend lives 1000 miles from me, but she knows when I'm having a bad day without any communication from me. I call that supernatural ability.

Cedars' comment about JWs being concerned only with their own is absolutely correct.
If I were still a JW my first thought about the tragedy would have been to worry that some JW kids were among the victims. I would have felt badly for all of the families affected, but seriously, I would have thought, "Well, at least the victims will get a resurrection."
I'm so glad I'm not still under their mind control. It makes you almost not human.
