WTS closes/dissolves 435 congregations in 29 countries

as listed in 2013 yearbook.. yes, most countries have increases in congregations.

most of the countries that have less congregations than last year, show 1 or 2 less.

however, poland shows a dramatic 327 congregations less, from 1,814 (2011) to 1,487. netherlands, 25 less congregations.

And yeah, Cedars, what the hell happened in Poland?

Remember the old days when everyone rejoiced that congregations were "splitting" all the time and there were scads of elders and MS? When 5 congregations might be sharing the same KH? When circuits were splitting so fast that they ran out of COs?

My congregation in Massachusetts was shuffled into new circuits 3 times in 6 years went nearly a year between COs visits (and then got a visit from a sub). That was in the 80s. There were 10 elders and 14 MS in a congregation of about 100 pubs.

Wow, I got absorbed in those graphs! I notice that the Dubs never report the number who disassociate themselves. I suppose we're lumped in with the DFs.

They want it both ways

several years ago the wts stopped announcing individuals who were df'd as, "so-and-so has been disfellowshipped" and instead began announcing, "so-and-so is no longer one of jehovah's witnesses".

this seems to be rather important to me.

undoubtedly this change was fueled by legal issues raised by someone who was df'd and impacted in some way perhaps financially.

Back in the '70s they used to say that someone was disfellowshipped for "conduct unbecoming a Christian." They've really watered it down.

Hi All - Finally Posting Here!

first off, i owe this site a tremendous debt of gratitude.

i have been an inactive witness for 4 glorious years, and the spark that began my fade out of the organziation was this site and paul's jwfacts.com.

it opened my eyes to a whole new world of insight, and i discovered that there were so many people out there like me - still a "spiritual" individual, but completely disgusted with the jw organization.

On the Eve of 2013, Predictions

not predictions for 2013 per se, but a couple i could see happening in the not-too-distant future:.

the society takes the hundred year anniversary of 1914 head-on with more spin and disinformation.

already laid the groundwork with the "100 years ago" feature in the new yearbook.

I predict that the news media will shine a bright light on pedophilia in the WTBTS, the GB will absolutely deny it, but a gajillion apostates will send various news organizations electronic copies of the Shepherd the Flock book with relevant parts highlighted. There will be a Senate hearing at which the GB will have to testify, and there will be huge fines imposed. (Oh, please, please, please!)

Anybody at an assembly right now?

i know this is a long shot and my identity as a witness is certainly at stake but anyone at a circuit assembly right now who is mentally out/disfellowshipped/faded who'd like to meet up?.

i can't disclose the location but i'm curious though.

i mean i know that there are assemblies and conventions all year long so i'm pretty sure there's more than one going on now but i'm extremely bored and annoyed and can barely keep from showing my anger at hipocresy and lies that are being said on the platform!

perfect thread title if you don't want anyone to even hit on it.. i guarantee you could make someone read the list of ingredients on a package of instant breakfast mix if you worded it the right way..
