Listener: Honestly that's a common policy with a lot of employers in the US (not sure if you're from a different country). The more bizarre inequities were with the Saturdays, which as I understand isn't even a thing anymore.

yup. likely. that was even in the november 2012 letter regarding pedos. It's fucking scary because the WT magazine itself clearly stated a brother who has been guilty of sex abuse will NEVER qualify for priviliges again.

COs and other org heavies - Interest in secular entertainment?

in any conversations and dealings you had with organization 'heavies' or their wives, such as cos, dos, missionaries, and so forth, did they ever have a lot of interest in any kind of secular entertainment (movies, tv shows, fiction books, and so forth)?

or did they always discuss only 'spiritual interests'?.

This is always been an interesting topic because it's amazing how some people who can be so strict in their own lives and from the platform can be hypocritical.

Take football for example. It's been repeatedly 'called out' in the WT magazines. One of the recent publications, the one about the minor prophets I think, mentions it too. Yet, how many brothers do we know that still watch it and go to games because they like it. Yet, those same elders will counsel me for playing violent video games. I guess fake violence is worse than real violence or something.

Here's a good one too since it is entertainment related. We all know that watching an R-rated movie is a one-way ticket home from Bethel. When I was there, NBC aired the movie Saving Private Ryan uncensored. It's a VERY violent movie, as it should be, given the subject matter. The next day, I heard several people at my table, including a Bethel elder and his wife discuss the movie. I really didn't have the balls at the time to tell them what they just did. Again, if I had rented something like Die Hard and that elder found out, I would have been instantly kicked out.

Awesome. I once had an all night watchman duty there while it was being renovated. My watchman duty consisted of sleep + Game Boy + jerking off a couple times.

Canada Zone Visit - April 2013

just got word of a zone visit for canada in april 2013, think it was april 8 to 14. sounds like its just 2 members of the u.s. branch comittee, no gb.

however, they plan on showing a talk on april 13/14 to all congregations in canada, not just a select few as has always been the case.. it'll be the same old stuff, but maybe this is why they the watchtower is purchasing all those projectors, like that "confidential" document mentions?

to broadcast things like this in all congregations?.

I think it's because the US was never actually a 'branch' until the early 2000's. The GB and their committee's ran everything. Once a branch was established, I'm guessing they started doing the zone visits.

It is OFFICIAL they want MORE MONEY : NEW ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

i just came back from the meeting .although the local announcements have been abolished recently as an item for the second part , an elder came on the platform to announce that the society needs more money and there is a letter on the noticeboard for all the congragation to read to this effect.

although the announcement was read half heartedly (this elder's daughter is an apostate ,it looks like he knows what's going on) the implictions are dramatic .

the society in brief,requests any brother or sister with funds sitting on personal accounts to loan them to the society ,he didn't go into any specifics but i will take a picture of the letter next time and make it available here .. i'm not amazed that they're asking for money ,i thought it will happen sooner or later .what i'm amazed is that 99% of the congragation are oblivious to the financial crisis that the society finds itself these days and the reasons why .i can see the future now .the watchtower will be the fist part of the babylon the great to go down in a blaze of scandals and financial troubles !.
