JW's in a sports bar

so i'm 2000+ miles from home on a mission for work.

out to lunch with three other guys from the company, in a sports bar on a sunday about 3:00-4:00 pm.

crowded, not a roudy place, nice.

I know I say a lot of bad things about Bethel, but one of the things they teach the new boys is to tip properly. They said that when figuring if you can afford to eat out, you should always factor in the tip. So if a meal is ten bucks, in your head it should really cost 12.

I am always afraid to eat out with JW's because they are horrible tippers. On several occassions I've had to give the waiter a few extra bucks to cover the poor tipping. I apologize to the waiter for my 'friends' behavior. Even after ou explain WHY tipping is important, the friends usually give an excuse that boils down to 'i don't want to give them extra money.' Fuck em

Any "friends" of Bethelites get a 2013 Yearbook yet?

i know the yearbook isn't on jw.org yet?

but in the past, some have gotten a yearbook gift sent to them by now?

things seem 'quiet' about the 2012 worldwide service report too..

i don't know if they still do that. When I was at Bethel the yearbooks were shipped to congregations just a week or two after those early ones were sent out anyway, so it didn't make much sense.

I also didn't know this until I was there, but apparently if a bethelite sent you a yearbook that was code for 'send me a money gift.'

Who or what is to blame for the Newtown CT shooting?

if events like the recent school shooting in newtown are to be avoided from here on out, we must understand who or what is to blame.

there is a reason that it happend, maybe it was simple or maybe it was very complex, but this didn't just simply happen.

a series of events transpired that inspired or even just allowed adam lanza to commit this terrible atrocity.

Bethel or HQ Employees: Your Outlooks

i read another post about bethel employees who complained about the food and was surprised there were so many here.. it struck me as odd that those in the belly of the beast, so to speak, had some of the attitudes they had.

tell me, if you worked there, what type of work were you doing?

From reading this board, I think Barb Anderson is the person you want to talk to. I think she was the closest to that inner circle you are wondering about.

I didn't really interact directly with the GB except for that time Brother Sydlik took my seat during morning worship. Most of the new GB members are all former District Overseers who were asked to work for the branch and then invited to the GB. I'm pretty sure being a giant controlling, stone cold asshole is the key requirement to being a DO, so that should tell you about the new GB.

Your last paragraph has a lot of questions and I'm not about to write 50 paragraphs to answer

That's a really hilarious picture. I can imagine the 2 hour long meeting the governing body had regarding that picture.

"Hmm what game should they be playing."

"Volley ball? Nahhh. Frisbee? Nahhh. Catch of some sort? Nahh. Let's have them play some made up game with a cricket bat"

I also love how the GB has ALWAYS demonized recreation and relaxing. They make you feel guilty if you try to have fun.

guns are less controlled because of the second amendment and the insane power the NRA wields over politicians. It's crazy. The group only has like 4 million members but has a crazy amount of influence among politicians on both sides of the aisle.

you have no idea zeb. apparently they changed up the food stuff a few years ago to make it 'healthier.' I can only imagine how much more money bethelites have to spend on eating out because the food is awful.
