i really hope this wasn't an affair gone bad.

they went to the same congregation and lived in the same apartment complex.. yep.....spiritual paradise.. not going to lie...........i'm filled with rage right now..

Uh " irregular attendee " ?! They are distancing themselves for sure. They cannot handle anymore bad press. The local Elders may not have known what was going on with him, or the other family. They are out of touch and unqualified. The real story will come out eventually.

You are welcome! It makes me sad that we need to even discuss these things. It is the same ol' sh*** as usual. Keep your slaves busy on a treadmill so they never have any breathing room or time to think. How many JW's read a Bible more than the litteratrash? A very small percentage, because if they did, ( reading quotes and snippets of verses in the WT does not count ) they would begin to see that things ain't adding up. Combine that with all the disinformation and restriction of information ( anything critical of the WT ) and the constant guilt trips and fear, and the reminders of how you are nothing without the GB, and you have an abusive relationship. All high control groups and cults do it. It is rare for a member to wake up, that shows the effectiveness of these techniques. Here is an interesting article. Jehovah's Witnesses: Who Can Baptize?

if you're a jehovah's witness and you have a child, spouse, or buddy who wants to be baptized, can you baptize them yourself if they request it?

this is assuming you're a jehovah's witness in good standing.

and is it common in the church?.

I have not found anything yet that says I cannot baptize someone..... I wonder if the early Bible Students swore their allegience to The Watchtower and CT Russell?

Well, first of all Cold Steel you left off a couple words. It should be " "Rub a dub dub, another J-Dub!... in a tub! ". Your question is a good one. All Jehovah's witnesses are considered ordained ministers. They can perform Weddings. Why couldn't one baptize another? I wonder.... Think how pissed the GB would be if people started baptizing eachother in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit!! Don't the JW higher ups say that if you were baptized in another Religion prior to becoming a dub, that baptism is valid? You dedicated yourself to God in your heart, you just didn't know the " truth ". Parents could really start rocking the boat. Are the GB and the Elders going to judge the validity of someones baptism. especially by an ordained minister?! This could be good.....

How can anyone really be a 100% confident atheist given the paranormal and occult?

i don't believe the bible is inerrant nor do i hold a 'christian worldview' any longer as my profile details say (which i am unable to update on my profile), but i just can't see how anyone can be absolutely 100% confident there is nothing out there we can call a 'god' or spirit creature in the face of endless first-hand accounts of paranormal and occult experiences that felt as 'real' to the person who experienced them as anything else in their lives.. there are untold reports of ghosts, faith-healing, ouija boards, seances, spirit mediums, stigmata, mystical born-again experiences, speaking in tongues, and then there's hypnotism, ufo sightings, poltergeists, remote viewing, etc, etc.

ok, so its mostly only anecdotal evidence, but the amount of it is so overwhelming it is practically corroborating evidence.

in the face of all this, how can anyone categorically assert that there is nothing out there that is beyond ourselves that we might call a 'god' or spirit creature?

Well I am not as smart as King Solomon or Cedars or 00DAD, or 90% of posters here, but I do have common " horse " sense, as Grandma would say.

We may as well add these statements from the August 15, 2012 WT lesson since we are talking about family bonds.

WOW! What a disgusting guilt trip from Spiritual Mommy dearest! Pack your bags, its time for a guilt trip! Just try telling the Elders that there is more to your life than struggling to care for priviliges. They may say " ok ", but the understanding will be that you are spiritually struggling because your theocratic productivity has dropped. No one who has ever been, or currently is a JW has any confusion over the hypocrisy of these photos.

Yeah...ironic. Jw life= Monday-work and personal study i.e read all magazines, Tues-work and prepare for family indoctrination night and KMS and TMS , Wed family indoctrination night, Thursday-Work and go to TMS and KMS, Friday-work and prepare for feild service Saturday. Saturday-no rest just field service till the afternoon ( be there or feel guilty ) that night study for Sunday. Sunday morning-no rest go to meeting and service afterward, then whatever else you may have to do. Monday-repeat for life.. Always do more,more MORE!!! If you can't you are not spiritual. I am shocked that info was included, they must be losing more and more to immorality.
