The Governing Body - their own worst enemy!
by cedars ini've been giving some thought recently to what's going on in the minds of the individual governing body members, and what makes them tick.
the process of listening to their talks for my "getting to know you" youtube video series, though draining, has been very enlightening.
i now feel i know some of their individual personalities a little better than i did previously.. then there has been the tumultuous events of 2012. it's been interesting to note the way the governing body has responded to some of these issues, and how in most cases their responses have been woefully inadequate or even counter-productive as regards their long-term interests.. for example:.

I agree whole-heartedly cedars. They will be hung by their own words found in their publications/doctrines and many will see, it's only a matter of time. At least the intellectually curious will read through the garbage and be free in the coming months, but sadly, humans feel the need for religion and the WTS provides instant friends and an instant network to benefit from. I don't see them ever going away.

Yeah, the more you attend meetings/assemblies while knowing TTATT, the more suffocating it gets. I've occasionally caught myself sighing or silently giggling when they say something enormously ignorant during the meetings. I like to spend that hour and half now at the meetings scheduling or making notes of things I gotta get done during the week on my iPad.

WTBS INC Annual meeting i.e. food for thoughts.
by MacHislopp infollowing recent posts, articles, blogs (thanks cedar and others for their excellent work) i would like to contribute something, to show the hypocrisy and the constant doctrinal changes of the society.. .
to begin:.
qualified to be ministers (1955) p.156 par.

These are the very things I researched that made me leave the organization. Looking back, its quite embarassing that we allowed them the slightest bit of authority based on these ridiculous teachings and false predictions. One scripture alone destroys the premise of their appointment, Deut 18:22 " when a prophet speaketh in the name of Jehovah, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which Jehovah hath not spoken: the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously, thou shalt not be afraid of him." (previous verses 20-21 calls for their death).
Great research MacHislopp, I always enjoy topics which dismantle their authority.

Urban Legend, or TRUTH? How did story of Ray Franz "spitting on" Karl Kline get started?
by dreamgolfer ini heard a story and wanted to get some follow up.
did anyone hear the same?.
supposedly at a mutual friends funeral (i dont know who) ray "supposedly spat" on karl kline for not talking to him after ray was df'd?.

I'd weigh the information to see how biased it was and who it came from. But like someone mentioned, sounds highly out of character of Ray Franz and he wouldn't give that kind of ammunition to the organization.

The Watchtower Attempts to Eliminate Discrepancies in Authority
by Emery ini began pondering about the reasons why this new light was made and have come to a few theories that may be plausible.
my conclusion is that the society is hell bent on eliminating the discrepancies to their authority.. .
the ancient lineage of the faithful and discreet slave - eliminated.

@King Solomon, great analysis! I wonder how they will defend that in the coming publications.
@St George, I thought the same thing. Also, by rejecting Russell as part of the Faithful Slave Class, then shouldn't his 1914 calcuation be suspect then?

Was the Watchtower Right?
by Christ Alone inthis question is for atheists and believers.
what teachings do you think the watchtower got right and why?
do you still think they are right about the trinity?
-
Emery
I can certainly see how one can arrive at the Trinity, it's not that difficult if you talk to some theologians. I do see a lot of verses which only pertains to YHWH in the OT being applied to Jesus in the NT, especially in Hebrews and Revelation. If I were more a believer in the sola scriptura principle then it would be easier to believe. The biggest hurdle I have is knowing the history about the bible and the development of such doctrines. The authority of the authors of the NT is also highly suspect. You can see a Jewish Christian approach about Jesus' identity in the synoptic gospels, and then see a completely different deistic view following some of Paul's letters down to the book of Revelation.
