First believe in yourslef, that's a given. Now this is a little outside the box, but depending on what you're really interested in, go to school. Find whatever it is you're passionate about and excel in it now. Like the saying goes, "It's never to late to be what you might have been." I have felt what you've felt. I began examining what I am really into and now am leaning towards being a teacher. Maybe in history or graphic design. Just an idea. Regardless of what happens be there for your family and don't stop progressing in life.

I want to Believe in Something
by James Jackson inafter serving in an appointed position for over 26 years (21 elder, 5 ms,14 pioneer), i have no more dreams of paradise, bored at the meetings, do not enjoy the field ministry.
the desire to do anything is gone.
i want to believe in something!.

JW morale reaching new low
by kneehighmiah inmany friends i've spoken with are becoming discouraged.
because of this it's becoming tempting to privately share my views with friends, but i know this is still too dangerous.
most witnesses in my circle are intelligent free thinkers.

I have observed similar things but unless something emotionally drastic happens to these people, they will remain in to keep the boat from rocking.

So what types of people actually flourish under the JW regime?
by Julia Orwell ini sure as eggs know which types don't:.
creative types: to do well at a creative industry one must dedicate a lot of time to developing one's talent, and as a jw one simply doesn't have time.
since writing a story or painting a picture doesn't contribute in any way to prestudy, meetings or fs results it's considered useless anyway.

In my local area, I feel people who aren't very gifted or talented in any one thing are normally the ones who succeed in this organization. The organization becomes the one thing they can be good at, and all it really takes is warming up a seat.

CO explaining at Circuit Assembly how to measure neighbourly love
by Daniel1555 ini attended the circuit assembly this weekend.
it was boring as always (except for one positive thing that was said was that we should be gentle especially the elders).. there was one thing that left me absolutely speechless.
the co was explaining how to measure neighbourly love: by the amount of time spent in fieldservice.. the next point he mentioned was that we should strictly adhere to the disfellowshipping arrangments and not find excuses to speak to df family members.. .

How Jehovah's Witnesses benefit those humble enough to study the Bible with them.
by Stand for Pure Worship inexcellent material can be found within the reasoning book, page 328, para.2, 3. occasionally, i see posters make presumptuous comments like, "all you need is the bible", or, "i'm born-again, so there's no need for spiritual assistance from another christian", or,"i'm saved", or my favorite, "jesus talks to me directly.
" on one hand, i can't be overly critical of such ones because they do attempt to read and understand the bible on their own.
(acts 17:11) not to mention they're generally peaceable folks, just self-misguided when erroneously believing that they can go it alone.

I really don't believe SFPW reads anyone's replies to his pro-WT topics.

Does the WTS's past matter?
by M.J. ini know, i'd jump into this topic by saying, "heck yeah.
they're the ones saying they've been appointed by god based on what they were doing back around 1914-1919.
" but i'm trying to help someone out who has reached a roadblock with his wife.

Feb 15 study W/T up on jw.org
by konceptual99 inlatest wt is up.. reinforces jesus becoming king in 1914 (no let up on that date).
marriage of the lamb to the 144,000. yawn.... yawn..... celebrates the 100 year anniversary of the photo drama of creation.
it seems to me that every 100 year anniversary shall be celebrated just to try and take the wind from the sails of apostates.. .

I understand your situation Laika, I was going through something similar. It's been tough for me to find good friends outside of the ones I've invested in for over 20 years. I really did have solid friends who would be there for me so long as I remain a JW. I tried going back to a few meetings to keep them around, however I was immediately reminded of why I could never go back. Our converstations, our goals and our outlook in life are now radically different. They're looking forward to their new bibles, new headquarters, conventions and armageddon, while I'm looking forward to college, starting a family, and Christmas haha. It takes me back to the feeling I once had with "worldly" people when I was a believer, being, we had nothing in common and hanging out is not very fulfilling. My advice is to do whatever it is necessary to be happy, BUT realize that knowing TTATT and hanging out with old jw friends will be quite difficult.

Did Jesus abolish the temple priesthood at his death????
by Crazyguy inif so or he did at anytime before or after his death please if you can provide scriptures.
i may need these for ammo when two elders come to my home this week.
thanks.

Theologically speaking, I thought the temple veil ripping in 2 after Jesus' death signified the elimination of a priestly class. Thus, making YWHW available to all who seek him. This website touches on it a bit, http://www.gotquestions.org/temple-veil-torn.html

WT gearing up to dump Russell and come clean on early history?
by Comatose inwe've discussed this on lots of threads, but i've noticed a few things lately.
they seem to be talking about the early days on a very regular basis, almost constantly.
the change to fds happens and this involved a dive into early history and a few knocks on russell.

The Watchtower is preparing to be a force on the internet. They finally understand now that we now live in a digital generation. It would be easier for JWs to dismiss past errors if the WT spills the beans first. It will take the thunder away from sites like jwfacts, youtube, etc. Then they will pull out the "Oh well we admit our mistakes unlike other religions" card when people drop apostate info on them.
