When I read ISOCF, the chapter on "The Faithful and Discreet Slave" completely freed me. I have never felt so many burdens falling off of my shoulders all at once, a moment I will always remember until I die. The day it happened, I literally sat there in my chair and said to myself, "Wow, they have no authority over me..." They have no absolute right to disfellowship anyone, set rules, interpret the bible, or any thing! 1914 doesn't even have to be argued for or against... its all garbage! I didn't cry or feel nausia, I felt a rather amazing relief, from all the guilt I had felt over my spiritual life. Once that was over, I did what probably most of you did and started reminiscing on all the lost opportunities which were sacrificed for this ridiculous cult; relationships, friendships, high school sports, earlier college entry, music, hobbies, etc.
However, I did read CofC first and I remember everything clicked while reading it. Questions and suspicions which were never directly addressed or ignored during my indoctrination were finally coming to light. When Ray details the events leading up to his judicial committee, it ALL sounded so typical and seemed like it was WT edict to approach things from a "guilty until proven innocent" manner. Understanding fully the machine that is the Watchtower helped me put into place their agenda and strategies which prohibit us from researching or reading such literature. No one ever reading this autobiography and expose would remain a Witness. The history and facts were carefully laid out in an objective and loving manner, this helped me get through Franz book and eliminate the presuppositions I had about "apostate literature." Realizing that the WT has to completely misrepresent the postition taken by those who have left the movement is what made me the most angry. All humans make mistakes, I am personally fine with sincere human error, however when you cover over those mistakes with blatant dishonesty, you reap the wrath of heartbroken individuals.

by Pterist inmy wife and i took the grand kids to a flea market in st. augustine, florida today 1/19.
after sucking down some hot dogs on a bright sunny cold day, i came across a jw booth set up with the latest mags and books, offering free bible studies.
i decided not to confront them, and spoil such a nice day, however, i will be forearmed with printed material if we go back again.. shalom.

The 1260 Days: No Witnesses were harmed in the making of this prophesy.
by Londo111 inaccording to the latest printed light on the 1260 days, this prophetic period ended on june 21, 1918, when rutherford and the directors were sentenced to prison.
the beginning of the 1260 days is said to be december 1914. .
however, if we use a simple tool, like excel, and subtract 1260 days from june 21, 1918, we get january 8th, 1915. .

When Satan's currency is endangered, you will always see these goons change their tune rather quickly.
Technology and the internet were talked in recent years as a waste of time and a satanic bird trap. Now they're both recognized as resourceful tools to help the movement, my Jah's channel of communication is one always one step ahead of the rest.

How to fight biblical ignorance??
by srd inthe bible this; the bible that; 'tis the word of the almighty.
we all be following its every word... blah, blah, blah.
many biblical scholars lament the fact that the bible is the most misunderstood, abused, and appropriated text by numerous different religious communities, each one claiming to provide its right interpretation, while ironically supporting their own belief system.

Hahaha, yeah I thought Ray Franz did an excellent job in ISOCF explaining all this. Their presumptuous arrogance is truly amazing. Here is what Franz had to say about it on pages 441-446.
Bending scripture to fit organizational history. The fallacy of provincialism is particularly evident in the organization's depicting itself as the central figure of various bible prophecies. They carefully develop certain features and incidents while ignoring others. Events of a comparatively trivial nature occurring in a certain time period of the past can be magnified to appear as of monumental significance, of world shaking importance. (Revelation and Daniel prophecies)
The application of bible prophecy to events that in many cases are essentially petty truly manifests a vivid imagination, but not discretion of faithful adherence to scripture. It is a clear example of the fallacy of "Provincialism." The later rejections of so many claimed fulfillments of prophecy demonstrates this to be so. In reality, what the WT does is make scriptures conform to certain features of the organization's history, as if that history was dominant and determinative over scripture.
Circular reasoning is also seen in that, in any discussion of qualifying for divine approval and assignment of authority the organization itself chooses the standards and conditions for passing the test, standards and conditions that are all adapted to fit precisely whatever it had been doing at the time that might be considered distinctive. The result of the "test" at the time of Christ's supposed invisible return is thus totally geared in their favor, so that they cannot fail to appear as victors.

YRM (Yahweh's Restoration Movement) - Out-JWing the JWs?
by Apognophos injust thought i would point out another religion that shares many of the jws' teachings, including non-trinitarianism and emphasis on god's name: http://www.yrm.org/yrm_statement_of%20belief.htm.
interestingly, they lean even further towards preserving the jewish covenant than witnesses do.
i didn't know it was possible to lean this far while still believing in jesus!

The mental regulating or training mentioned in that scripture invoked the truths as taught by inspired apostles handpicked by Jesus... not by uninspired speculative interpretations of false prophets 2,000 years later :)

A treacherous heart might decieve a Christian making him unable to see that his family is actually, Moloch.
by Theocratic Sedition infrom this week's congregation bible study, the first 8 paragraphs of chapter 4 in the jeremiah book.
page 44 as follows.. in our case, we certainly do not think of ourselves as worshippers of idol gods.
however, under the heading of "god", one dictionary says: a person or thing of supreme value.
