I also wanted to add that you remaining in the organization for your family is by no means a bad thing. Many here have sacrificied much to stay close to their families and friends when discovering TTATT. IMO its one of the greatest signs of love that should embarass the Watchtower Society.

New Member...
by sosoconfused inhello everyone, just wanted to say hi and introduce myself.. i am a mid 30's just stepped aside elder, who just couldn't handle it anymore.. i am a 3rd generation born-in and former pioneer and bethelite.
it has been a log somewhat confusing ride for me, but i am finally settling in to realizing that i need to really look at what me and my family are doing.. .
its funny though what really got me here... it wasn't the 40 year old men telling me they were looking at boobies on the computer and hoping not to get in trouble, it wasn't the watching young people bail left and right, it wasn't the ever changing new light etc... but a simple thought.. .

Welcome, its great seeing new ones waking up.
Thoughts like these are very common. How can you fathom a loving almighty God destroying billions of people because of spiritual ignorance? How can the bible claim that God is impartial yet judaic history shows that God was very partial and destroyed nations to make way for his chosen Jewish people? Whether it is within the realm or time frame of the flood or our present day, it seems like a huge paradox and contradiction for salvation.
When you start examining the bible and placing everything within its historical context, you will begin to see things in a better light. Parables only refectling principals and morals not double fullfilling false prophecies. Stories of the bible representing an ancient time, not a bunch of parallels to a modern day organization.

Here is the funeral talk outline. VERY discraceful.
by stillstuckcruz inthis is truly terrible.
i just love the statement "instead of eulogizing the deceased, use the material in this outline to give a fine witness concerning the truth.
" in other words, utterly disregard the deceased.

When I read ISOCF, the chapter on "The Faithful and Discreet Slave" completely freed me. I have never felt so many burdens falling off of my shoulders all at once, a moment I will always remember until I die. The day it happened, I literally sat there in my chair and said to myself, "Wow, they have no authority over me..." They have no absolute right to disfellowship anyone, set rules, interpret the bible, or any thing! 1914 doesn't even have to be argued for or against... its all garbage! I didn't cry or feel nausia, I felt a rather amazing relief, from all the guilt I had felt over my spiritual life. Once that was over, I did what probably most of you did and started reminiscing on all the lost opportunities which were sacrificed for this ridiculous cult; relationships, friendships, high school sports, earlier college entry, music, hobbies, etc.
However, I did read CofC first and I remember everything clicked while reading it. Questions and suspicions which were never directly addressed or ignored during my indoctrination were finally coming to light. When Ray details the events leading up to his judicial committee, it ALL sounded so typical and seemed like it was WT edict to approach things from a "guilty until proven innocent" manner. Understanding fully the machine that is the Watchtower helped me put into place their agenda and strategies which prohibit us from researching or reading such literature. No one ever reading this autobiography and expose would remain a Witness. The history and facts were carefully laid out in an objective and loving manner, this helped me get through Franz book and eliminate the presuppositions I had about "apostate literature." Realizing that the WT has to completely misrepresent the postition taken by those who have left the movement is what made me the most angry. All humans make mistakes, I am personally fine with sincere human error, however when you cover over those mistakes with blatant dishonesty, you reap the wrath of heartbroken individuals.

JW booth in Flea Market @ St. Augustine Florida
by Pterist inmy wife and i took the grand kids to a flea market in st. augustine, florida today 1/19.
after sucking down some hot dogs on a bright sunny cold day, i came across a jw booth set up with the latest mags and books, offering free bible studies.
i decided not to confront them, and spoil such a nice day, however, i will be forearmed with printed material if we go back again.. shalom.

Seems like they are taking the Scientology approach with these book stands.

The 1260 Days: No Witnesses were harmed in the making of this prophesy.
by Londo111 inaccording to the latest printed light on the 1260 days, this prophetic period ended on june 21, 1918, when rutherford and the directors were sentenced to prison.
the beginning of the 1260 days is said to be december 1914. .
however, if we use a simple tool, like excel, and subtract 1260 days from june 21, 1918, we get january 8th, 1915. .

The Watchtower Society has come to grips with the futility of D2D preaching
by wasblind inyou don't even have to read between the lines, they say it straight out on their website.
" in many countries, more and more people obtain information online.".
who'd a thunk it .

When Satan's currency is endangered, you will always see these goons change their tune rather quickly.
Technology and the internet were talked in recent years as a waste of time and a satanic bird trap. Now they're both recognized as resourceful tools to help the movement, my Jah's channel of communication is one always one step ahead of the rest.

How to fight biblical ignorance??
by srd inthe bible this; the bible that; 'tis the word of the almighty.
we all be following its every word... blah, blah, blah.
many biblical scholars lament the fact that the bible is the most misunderstood, abused, and appropriated text by numerous different religious communities, each one claiming to provide its right interpretation, while ironically supporting their own belief system.
