The internet, apostates, and money. All three of those have been the most dominant subjects in the last 3 or 4 years. JWdot org is a telling fact that the internet has done lots of damage to them.

WT Mantras / Thought Stoppers
by Ding ini've been thinking about how the gb controls jws through the use of short phrases or scripture quotes (often partial quotes ripped out of context).. think of the sound-bite responses you know jws are going to give you in response to points you try to make to them.. ones that come to my mind immediately are:.
-- "the light gets brighter and brighter.".
-- "who, then, is the faithful and discreet slave?".

When somebody dies: "At least WE have the hope of the resurrection" or "We will see them again in Paradise". The cheapest responses to anything so tragic.

How do Jehovah's Witnesses get from 1914 to 1919?
by God_Delusion inhi guys and gals,.
i have written an article that explains how the watchtower society gets from 607 bce to 1914 (http://www.jehovahswitnessblog.com/faqs/why-is-1914-important/) but i need some input so that i can write an article on how they get from 1914 to (via 1918) 1919.. are we talking about ezra, 1:2-4 when the persian king cyrus allows the israelites to go and rebuild the temple 3 and a half years after exiling them?
if so, how has the watchtower used this passage to get to 1919??.

I remember watching exgileadmissionary's youtube video regarding how the WT library can't even provide the chronology of how they arrive at 1919.
Here it is.

Don't they also use Malachi chapter 3 to arrive at 1919?

"Jehovah ALWAYS had/used an organization". How would you reply?
by EdenOne inin a recent meeting with elders, an argument was used to the effect that jehovah has always [= throughout history] used, or operated through, an organization; therefore, the wts must be that organization today, since god must be using one.
naturally, i know what arguments i've used to counter that argument.
but i'm interested in hearing yours.

they are appointed by the governing body who in turn are apointed by jesus and holy spirit.

To add to the discussion, here are some more points.
The "organization" of Israel was based on the CONDITIONAL Mosaic covenant. Obviously, the Israelites couldn't hold up the laws and customs pertaining to the covenant and ended it by crucifying Jesus. Christians now operate under a new covenant which establishes Jesus as high priest and greater Moses. You could show your family that after Jesus' death, when the temple veil (which separated the holy of holies, God and men) was torn in 2, this signified the end of that "organizational" arrangement. God was now available to all men, never to dwell in temples again. This is one of the best theological arguments i've heard against organization.
This website has a good article on the subject. http://www.gotquestions.org/temple-veil-torn.html

Could ''boredom'' at the Kingdom Hall be one reason why some members leave?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inyou'll find boredom where there is the absence of a good idea earl nightingale quotes (us motivational writer and author, 1921-1989).
let's forget that most members leave due to the wrong beliefs, doctrines and practices of the wts!.
i was bored out of my mind from the repetitive: talks, prayers, ministry school demonstrations, field service talks(peddle magazines),assemblies, special talks and watchtower magazine study articles.

I know of 2 young exjws who were so mentally exhausted and bored of the meetings that they no longer wanted to be jws anymore. Who wants to sit in a chair hearing some old guy read paragraphs to you for 1.5 hours? Routine pre-recorded music and prayers with no actual worship going on? This generation that's who.
