Just kidding- This excerpt from JW facts provides the background on Barry. They have had semi sane members on the GB at one time,
Barbara Anderson worked in the writing department at the global headquarters, Brooklyn Bethel, during the 1990s. Anderson recalls that Governing Body member Lloyd Barry, who himself had a university degree, was behind this new stance on education.
“Lloyd Barry was empathetic towards the low-paying job plight of Witnesses as expressed in personal letters received at headquarters, and from Jehovah’s Witnesses branch office communiqués from around the world. … Due to difficult economic changes in a world that Witnesses could not escape from, Lloyd Barry, along with the rest of the Governing Body, authorized the November 1, 1992 Watchtower article that changed the view of Witnesses towards higher education.” 10
Anderson provides a second reason for the change.
“Interestingly, another Governing Body member, Dan Sydlik, shared with a friend that the Watchtower Society was finding itself in a difficult position because this mammoth publishing company needed skilled technical people but couldn't find them in the Witness community.” 11

Night and Day from GB to Writing committee? Someone explain?
by thedepressedsoul inim sure by now most of you are familiar with anthony morris talk from this weekend.
im even seeing memes posted all over instagram from jw mocking it.. here is my question, why are the things written so different from how the gb members, like anthony morris are?
i know the gb dont actually write the stuff but i was under the impression that they come up with the spiritual light pass if off to the writing committee and they put it in the publications.

Was there any bloodguilt for the lives lost during the organ transplant ban? Vaccination ban? Malawi? Contrary to the "warning work" there were actually real, tangible lives lost over changed teachings that are now ok! Anyone care to explain how that does not equal bloodguilt??

Im not really sure how other JWs took it, but my wife is the type of person to extract the "good" from a talk and forget the rest. Even she had to admit the 23 year old MS thing was crazy. I also got her to agree that much of what he said would never appear in any publication and was his opinion.
She said he is one of those people who is a loose cannon. You never know what they are going to say.

Jesus said that "my yoke is kindly and my load is light" What did this scripture mean to you when you were mentally in? Did you feel the JW load was kindly and light? If not, what was the point in him uttering those words? Was it some kind of sick joke?
Jw land is all about doing more, bloodguilt, guilt about traveling, pant tightness, guilt about missing a meeting even if you were sick, guilt about pioneering, serving as an elder, guilt about entertainment, meetings are often a verbal beat down. You couldnt celebrate holidays, birthdays, no sports, afterschool activities, no nothing.
What is kindly or light about this? I never understood as a JW how this scripture could possibly apply to us.
