as a little background, my dad became a jw in 1980 i think, went to bethel, married my mom in 86' went back for another year and then i came along... he worked in the auto repair shop at bethel while he was there, and upon leaving, continued working in this field.
my whole life they have been the type of jw parents that tell you how you will never get to high school, never graduate it, never get married in this system, never have children in this system etc.. i say this to illustrate the end is just around the corner attitude they have always had, probably because they fully bought/buy into the hype at the conventions/wt articles.
my father has no plan in place for retirement, and he is physically slowing down doing such hard laborious work.

if you like these here's one with a fellow that has gotten his family out recently:.

Excellent! It is a wonderful thing how he and his wife seemed to wake up simulatneously. What a nice change from so many here.
It seems like so many begin to awaken after attending Bethel. I think this is due to them seeing the pharasaical and heartless cold attitudes there, as well as the general lack of any evidence of Jehovahs spirit. If it cant be found at the world headquaters of Gods only true organization, then where can it be found?
When I first started lurking here, one of the things that had the most impact was reading accounts of the kind of things that go on at bethel. Of course I dont expect perfection, but it would seem that since Jehovah and Jesus are supposed to be so loving, wouldnt they make sure their headquarters on earth are a warm loving place? Something was amiss to me and I think it separates two types of people.
1. People who are impressed by the organization and efficiency of operations at Bthel and view that as Jehovahs spirit. (Its not, hell the NAZIs were efficient)
2. People who may not vocalize the negative feelings and experiences they had while at Bethel, but it sticks with them and bothers them deep down, even if they try to rationalize it away.

the jewish generation that heard that prophecy in the first century saw the fulfillment of jesus prophecy about jerusalem come true less than four decades later, when jerusalem was destroyed in the year 70 c.e.
WOW great catch! Dont know how we missed that one.. Plus it is actially on the CD-ROM. Kudos to you sir!
And Great job Data Dog, comparing how they actually used the term "Due time must be very close" with Jesus warning to avoid such ones!
This is some Damning, DAMNING stuff for the WT. I will be sharing this with the wife when the time is right. It might be a little strong to compare it directly with Luke 21:8 but maybe we could phrase it like a question. for example, How can we rebut someone like a co-worker or householder who asks how Luke 21:8 does not apply to JWs in light of what has been printed..
the year is 1969. faithful followers of the watchtower society are gearing up for the imminent end of the system of things just as they had been for the previous ninety years.
a young witness named andrew is trying to decide what to do with his life.
andrew is a smart kid and he has an entire lifetime ahead of him.
This deserves a bump seeing as all of those who were told they would not grow old in this system are about to become seniors.
in recent weeks the jw’s here in the uk have been setting up their new portable watchtower literature displays in my local town square on a saturday morning.
as they hadn’t knocked on my door for at least five years, and consequently feeling somewhat neglected, i thought that i would pay them a visit instead.. .
the first thing i needed to do was arrange my literature.
Dont know how I missed this but GREAT JOB! Bump

Thanks Nugget- so true. My parents certainly have different goals than mine, seeing as they are "trying to get closer to Jehovah and his organization" while I am trying to extract myself and my immediate family from it.
neverendingjourney- Ditto
the truth about messiah and what he acheived in the 1st century is something millions of believers in christ refuse to accept namely the historical record of things all fulfilled in that momentous 1st century.it is rejected because the -isms, man made doctrines, theologies, false teachings etc etc that abound since then and so millions have allowed themselves to be brainwashed, conditioned into.
the reality is so simple if one lets messiah remain with his intent and meaning.
but if we change his own words, we become divided.
That was what I didnt want to hear, I didnt get it.

Good Ideas Rudereadhead.. we will try to help them find employment so they can make it. I know they can do it. Most people are struggling today.
