i posted on another thread about a couple of my experiences of meeting the governing body while i was in brooklyn.
i wanted to see if anyone else had any experiences along these same lines.
i met most of the ones that were current during the 2001-2003 years.
I spent some time with Sam Hurd and his wife when he was a D.O.
I had them over for lunch ... he was Wowed. I remember his soft soothing voice when he chatted one on one, and his dynamic voice when he was on the platform at Circuit Assemblies.
He didn't sound like James Earl Jones, but his voice was equally as pleasurable and dynamic to listen to. I'd attend an assembly just to hear the sound of his voice.
i'm desperately begging to the administrators of this website, to please modify the logic of the captchas used to validate the logins.. they were perfectly acceptable up to sometime in the last few days when they seem to have been modified.
the level of deciphering needed to read the captchas has gone up tremendously.
it took me about 30 attempts for this last login.. please revert the logic as it was before, where you had 2 words, one easy to read and another moderately hard to decipher..
It has been the last few weeks for me.
I understand it is to deter screen scraping and character recognition programs ... however after 8-10 refreshes that are still unreadable I sometimes give up.

Everyone thought that God would have enough after 70 or 80 years, but the "world conditions" have hurt even God's organization.
The more money you give, the sooner Paradise will come.
i am a new stepmom to an 8 year old boy whose mother is a jw pioneer.
my husband has been disfellowshipped for 2.5 years now.
i was part of the reason he left the organization for good, although he had stopped believing long before being kicked out.
Love your child no matter what choice he makes. There are ways around enticing children to violate the "rules" from his mom.
For example: A child might feel guilty about accepting a Birthday Present ... or might know that he'll catch hell from his mom if he accepts a Birthday gift or has a piece of Birthday Cake.
No problem .... a week or two early give him gifts just because you love him. Give him a special cake but don't call it a Birthday Cake.
He'll get to enjoy being a kid and won't feel slighted nor guilty. When he gets a little older he will know that it was a birthday present all along and he'll always appreciate your love and affection.
So mom won't let him play soccer? No problem, don't let it upset you, find other fun things to do. Quality time with you and his dad will be more precious moments for him anyway.
i'm seeing quite a few posters requesting that new people post their biographies.
i'm almost embarrassed to do this for two reasons.
1. i may be perceived as just another bleeding heart who would have absolutely no clue as to how one feels about leaving or being torn from the society.. 2. i have concerns about the 10+ jws who have infiltrated numerous aspects of my life (work/personal friends/friends of friends) being lurkers and recognizing my "biographical profile.

You can only control a certain amount of what we perceive .. we will make up our own reality about you anyway.

If you have apprehensions with sharing private and personal things with an audience you don't trust, then you shouldn't.

the elder then said that since the congregation no longer has to make a blanket donation to the assembly hall it is expected that the publishers remember their responsibility to maintain the costs.
In the principle of ethics ... what is the difference between passing a collection plate in front of people ... or ... passing people in front of a collection box?

i was thinking about how to explain to a family member how i have no fear or issue with not living in a paradise earth etc.
they dont believe i left the jws for good reason, they think like every jw that i must be bitter about the religion or something.. .
i am an atheist and for many reasons i dont fear death, but i was trying to think of a way to explain it from a jw perspective when it hit me...... it doesnt matter.. option a: do t believe in god and believe that i will die and there will be eternal nothingness.
I don't fear death, but I do fear dying...
as far as the very sick ... I believe in prolonging life, but I don't believe in prolonging death

Why the all knowing and all powerful has difficulty managing his money is beyond me; however c'mon guys and gals ... lets help the guy out.
New policy right around the corner. If you don't contribute money, then you get disfellowshiped.
If you contribute lots of money, you can sleep with whoever you want and still be in good standing.
