Had Enough,
There's a new idea to keep meeting attendance up. Breaks for intercourse. LOL. Hey, you have to have something to look forward to on meeting days.

my dad asked the co about this one.
mat 27:52-53. and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, .
and came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

i was thinking about this the other day.
when i was a jw there were always stories circulating around concerning a certain entertainer hating jws.
i suppose it was some sort of jw urban legend but it goes like this.... a jw couple is at a concert by some artist while in another town for an assembly.
Hey Nik,
I remember that. I have only heard of it being John Denver though. I also recall a story being told of John appearing as a guest on the old Johnny Carson show. Story goes John made a comment to Carson about not liking witnesses. Carson called him on it, said his maid and assistants on the show were witnesses because they were the only ones to be trusted. Lmao. Ironic, no? Then apparently Carson asked Denver to leave. Who knows if it's true or not, but I remember people not liking Denver because of this rumor. I just thought his music sucked. Oh well, to each his own.

badass,
I assure you, that was more than amusing. I had tears in my eyes I was laughing so hard. I could picture the rides to meeting with bro. ray. LOL. White knuckled adventures, indeed. I hope the spiritual food that you and Jamie received at the meetings those nights was worth the years those rides took off of your lifespans. And I remember those prayers at meetings too. Those certain elders who had to mention and give thanks for even the fleas on their dogs, because jehovah created the fleas too, so they must be fulfilling a purpose. Oh, that post took me back. Thank you for once again making me laugh my arse off.

hello folks,.
does anyone know if there are any photos of the actual members of the gb somewhere on the www to see?.
gianluca
do you believe in reincarnation?.
i dont think i believe in it in the same way that most believers do, which is that we keep coming back in different fleshly bodies until we have achieved perfection.. i do, however, strongly suspect that we may well be spirit creatures who find it necessary to inhabit a fleshly body from time to time, and that this entails us having to leave behind most of our past memories.. i say most memories, because many people seem to have some vestigal recollections that don`t seem to fit in with earthly experiences.. i`m pretty sure that i chose my parents!
i have a recollection of being shown a young and kind couple through some form of astral telescope and choosing to become their son.
Chuck,
Thank you for taking the time and energy to make such a thoughtful and informative post.
I look forward to your posts mainly because of your insights and the way you wield that 'intellectual smartass' sense of humor. But also because I always see something in a new light when I am finished reading.
Galileo was labeled a heretic for his views and assertions. Most great minds are mocked for their unconventional ideas. But where would we be today without Galileo or Copernicus or such persons? Testing theories and ideas requires taking risks, and these people took those risks, aware of the fact that they would be persecuted at the hands of the church. But therin lies true genius in the willingness to forge a new path and make people think instead of just accept. Religion is such a snare because it requires it's followers to be just that. Followers. Where is the genius in that? I gain courage from learning about people such as Galileo. It makes me all the more courageous to stand behind my convictions, even if they differ from those of my family. So thank you Chuck for bringing these important issues to light.

i recall having a conversation with a friend about homosexuality not too long ago.
he put a new spin on the subject that i had never thought of before.
he said his opinion was that the bible condemns homosexuality for the simple fact that the act of sex between same-sex partners does not produce children.
Englishman,
I have never personally been in a homosexual relationship either, but it is upsetting to think that people can be so cruel to eachother based on sexual orientation alone. I just don't see the big deal. I think that if you can find someone in this world to love and that person loves you too and you are happy, it shouldn't matter if you happen to be of like gender.
cheers

Therefore, no new disciples are born to spread the word of god. On that token, other 'sins' such as oral sex, masturbation, and the like could well be lumped into the same category as homosexuality, a biblical 'abomination punishable by death.' Yikes. Homosexuality in the animal kingdom is prevalent. So why would a higher power create animals knowing they would have the inclination to engage in the act that is condemned in reference to human beings?
Growing up in the borg I was taught to think that homosexuals were vile, morally corrupt heathens. In reality the ones that I have associated with and have come to know and love posess more compassion, empathy, and integrity than any witness that I have ever known.
There is so much hate and prejudice in the name of religion. It is truly sad. I am grateful that I had the insight to turn my back on such oppression. Also, side note, what a sad existence it would be without the likes of Warhol and dance music. I shudder to think.

risking the flames of the ignorant, let me suggest some reading for all you awakening humans who i have come to love:.
do a search on john edward, he has a site but i am not sure if it is johnedward.com or .org, and he is also on the sci-fi channel(cable tv in usa) and has a site on their page too.
i recommend getting one of his books and watching his show.
Ravyn,
I have witnessed John Edward in action also and I have a hard time believing his insights are a hoax. For those of us who have lost a vital person in our lives, it is comforting to be reassured that somewhere out there in the vast expansion of the universe we can still somehow connect with our loved ones, be it through a spirit medium or just feeling their presence around us. Even if people think we are kidding ourselves about our ideas, believing in this brings us a sense of peace so I say keep believing and don't pay attention to those who mock. I wish you all the best, Ravyn. You are in my thoughts and I hope to hear more from you in the future.

Focus,
You are a genius. In my efforts to block out my dismal years in the borg I have neglected to recall that I was induced into rem stage sleep at the mere sight of a Wackytower. Thanks for the reminder.

Tallyman,
I too am an insomniac. We must be posessed by demons like the brother in the link. That's the only logical conclusion that I can think of. Perhaps it is the aluminum cookware that I use. As you know, aluminum is satan's metal.
Of course we could always drink mad dog 20/20 until we passed out...
bottoms up,
