Just in case you weren't really sure, The Watchtower and the Governing Body will never meet with Bill Bowen. He is now disfellowshipped.
No kidding. Gee!
LOL

just read the posts about dissassociating.
wondering what the advantages/disadvantages are.. i myself had my meeting attendance drop about 1989. during this time, i found the truth about jws through books like those of raymond franz and never went back.
aside from my father trying to coax me back in, no other jw (elder or otherwise) has ever brought up the subject or hunted me down to make a decision.
I did it to get them off my ass basically. The constant nagging about meeting attendance from my mother as well as elders when I would run into them out on the streets. This was in 89 also, plus I joined the Navy which I figured they'd find out sooner or later so I da'd myself and left on my terms and basically they've not bothered me since. My mother never did shun me so I was fortunate in that area.

how do witnesses view aa meetings and aca meetings?
are they ok with the 12 steps?
the reason i am asking is because i think it might be beneficial for my jw-wife to attend some aca meetings but i'm unsure of how "anti-aa" the witnesses are.. also, if anyone care to make any comments re aca meetings, i'm all ears.
MV,
Glad she is doing well now.

ok, now that we ae done.....here's the "scoop".

They would go out together after the meetings and bar hop
LOL.. Not to be insensitive as alcoholism is a serious problem, but I find that funny as hell!

so i've been gone for a few months, get off my back already.
actually, the us army is keeping me busy, but they've decided to promote me to the rank of sergeant first class with the corresponding $300.00 a month pay raise.
i'll read and post from time to time, just wanted to let ya'll know i'm still alive.. blessings.
Yeru,
As a veteran myself I congratulate you on your promotion.
And on a side note who would have ever thought my beloved US Navy would do business with the WTS??? Oh well, it's a good thing if it makes more people see just what double standard crap the WTS spews from it's rotten, foul mouth!

Hilarious!

the main reason given in the 1973 watchtower was that smoking is tied in with spiritism because the greek word which is rendered as spiritism is pharmakia' which literally means "druggery," (see galatians 5:20.
) therefore the argument was made that by smoking we put ourselves under spiritistic or demonic control.
for the last 20 years i haven't heard this reason used.. today the reasons given are that smoking shows no respect for your body as well as for life and that smoking doesn't show love of neighbor.
I remember being in San Diego a couple of years ago and heading outside to smoke. Wouldn't have been strange only I was at a bar.. LOL What a pain in the ass that is.

do you know why the society says this?
regardless of whether the meeting is for the purpose of shepherding, sharing bible advice,or simply giving encouragement, "she could develop romantic feelings for the elder.it is possible for an elder to develop improper feelings for a sister he is comforting or counseling.
it is especially important never to meet with a sister alone when the sister being assisted has been a victim of abuse, suffers from depression,or for any other reason is in a delicate emotional state.a woman in such an emotional may be more vulnerable and may be prone to develop improper feelings toward an elder meeting with her.
Hey Beck,
Took a little vacation so I tried successfully for a while to stay away from work and computers
