NY44M,
An active JW would find it encouraging, today I found it just a little nauseating.--RN
anyone out there have an original edition of this book?.
because i'm trying to decide if i've lost my mind or have the worst memory ever.
in my early teens (mid 1970's) i read this book, and i always wanted to read it again; especially in the early '90's when things really started to bug me.

Faith on the March was written by MacMillian and had the blessing of the WTS, but I believe was published by a "wordly" publisher. ??To give it credibility??? Marley Cole wrote "Jehovah's Witnesses-the Global Kingdom.
Cole's book actually is a little more forthcoming about some of the Society's "sins".

Thanks for the links. I was remembering MacMillian are being a little more forthcoming regarding a few of the "less positive" aspects of the WTS history. Obviously I'm confusing it and him with something I read at a later time. Maybe Barbara Harrison's book, though I read them a good 15 years apart.

In my early teens (mid 1970's) I read this book, and I always wanted to read it again; especially in the early '90's when things really started to bug me. At that time I found Marley Cole's book through Stoops, so I ordered and read that. I remember reading what Cole wrote about Miss Bell and the Jellyfish, Miracle Wheet etc. and not feeling particularly surprised because I had read about those things many years ago in Faith on the March. Or so I thought.
Still thinking it would be interesting to re-read after all these years, I searched and found a reprint, paperback copy through Ebay. There is no mention of Miss Bell, Miracle Wheat, Beth Sarim. The account of the 1917 coup was so whitewashed it was barely recognizable. Either my memory is jack, or this is the most heavily edited book on the planet. Wow. Just. Wow. Recommendation: unless you can find "the real thing", don't bother.

just had a sick conversation with my jw father when picking up by kid.
dad: so things looking really bad in n korea huh?.
they rattle the cage every few years and everyone seems to just appease them.. dad: yeah, but this new guy, i mean he is just sounds plain crazy.
My daughter is stationed in S. Korea and she is telling me all is well and it's business as usual...
this is so a made up example .
written as ifs it was real .
whats your opinion ?.
Brilliant! Let's compare OCD (a severe anxiety disorder) with trying to improve your life with a college education. I need to borrow a pair of hands from some one and do a quadruple face palm, because a double face palm just won't do. --RN
yes i think we can rightfully say that the governing body will hold the record for this title.
the corporation is our mother, our father, our provider and divider of holy spirit, and no one can come to god except through the corporation,, with the wheel inside the wheels full of eyes, and jehovah hovering over head with cherubs at the 4 corners.. yes the governing body are the high rollers of the organization/corporation that you can offer worshipful thanks and obedience to, because they as they so often have proven from many scriptures with reason defying logic that they are the chosen one's of god almighty to lead his people into the promised land flowing with friendly lions and tigers just waiting for you to pet them while downing a nice pomegranate smoothy.. all hail jehovah's visible corporation/ark of the covenant!
"holy corporation worship batman!!".
Love the idea of historical buildings being preserved, and the Stanley returned to its original condition--after that--meh.
i have had a few conversations with my sister who left the org several years ago and has been dating a non jw for several years now.
she celebrates the holidays and everything.
so the other day i brought up some of the things i have learned since leaving.
What Phizzy says is so true. I had a friend who was disfellowshipped in the early 80's, when I contacted her and re-established communication in the late 90's I eventually asked her if she still believed what the WTS taught. Her response was to completely shut down and demand that I never contact her again. About 2 1/2 years ago I found out that her brother (disfellowshipped in the late 70's) had died, within a year she had returned to the KH, sought and was granted reinstatement. The Facebook communication I managed to get out of her was nothing but cult speak. It would be funny, if it wasn't so very sad. She is in her mid fifties, at this point I doubt she will ever be her own person and truly have her own life.
