Hillbilly!!
Well hello, Brother of Mine. Nice to see that your out and about, and have found this place. Lots of good people here. I usually don't post much, but I like to read and keep up with what's happening.
BTW, did you really have to share the story about Mom hiding the book in the chair? In retrospect, it's kinda embaressing.

My husband was just saying the other day that it would be fun to go to a "reunion" of sorts to meet some of the folks here online. (Some of you oldtimers from H2O would remember him as Kinsman.)
We're out on Seattle's Eastside, in the Snoqualmie Valley.
Skeptic, check your email.

Micro-chip your pet

*Are humans next?*
I'm not going near that one with a ten foot pole!
But on the topic of animals, maybe the government should expend money and effort in a area where some actual good could be done, like shutting down puppy mills and backyard breeders. Though I do personally encourage altering (spay or neuter) companion animals, micro-chipping should be the choice of the pet owner, not the government.FYI: I chose to have my dog microchipped. The implantation cost $30.00 and the one time fee to register him with the AKC National Registery was $12.50. I feel it was a small price to pay for his protection and my piece of mind.

I am materialistic
by expatbrit inlast week i had a phone conversation with my family back in england.
my parents had figured out that something wasn't usual about my attitude to the "truth", so they started grilling me: have i been to meetings?
going in field service?

Expatbrit,
Doesn't stuff like this just make your head spin around in circles? [8>] After explaining to very old and dear friends that I could no longer in good conscience support the WTS, due to deception, cover ups, dishonesty I had discovered. They stated that I should not let my grief over losing my son take me from the organization. They fact that the event they referred to was several years past, and that during that time I had not acted like a grief stricken lunatic, just went right over their heads.

I Can`t Get To Grips With This FDS Thing.
by Englishman ini`m trying to understand the process by which jw`s link the "faithful and discreet slave" parable to a belief that this refers to a number of people who will go to heaven ie: 144,000.. also, i am trying to understand how, by extension, some of this number comprise a "governing body" that is at the top of "jehovahs earthly organisation".. i really dont understand how these conclusions are reached and would appreciate some input.
please note that when i posted this question on h20 some months ago i received only 1 reply from friday, who saw fit to ridicule me for my lack of knowledge on this subject.
i still don`t know the answer!

Englishman,
When my husband and I left about 5 years ago, he spent a year researching and writing. This was one of the subjects he wrote about. At one time he had a website with this info posted, but a Free Bible Student friend of ours hosts many of the articles now. So I'll post a few links to some things that you might find helpful.
Go here: www.cqlcorp.com/fbs/pages/4jws/fds.htm
or here: www.cqlcorp.com/fbs/Research/Chr-perspect/org.htm
(or should I say I'll attempt to post links) Been enjoying your posts for quite some time. Keep 'em coming.

RC,
I live in the Carnation/Duvall area, in the beautiful Snoqualmie Valley. Yes, this is a great place. Actually, I kind of an oldtimer. My husband was a regular poster on H2O in the early days. I posted too but mostly read and read and read. Been lurking here since the beginning as well, so I feel like I know everyone.
Watch out for Englishman, he'll have you laughing till your sides ache!
