  My church's policy on reporting abuse.

  yesterday every body that volunteers in the nursery got a pamphlet on various policies that apply to us.

  this is the complete text of the section on reporting abuse.. .

  if a volunteer suspects a child has been physically, emotionally, or sexually abused or neglected, occ staff must be notified immediately.

  Yes I agree, quite normal.

  Of note: (1) everyone who works in the nursery received a copy of this policy (2) The policy spells out what to do (3) the policy spells out what not to do.

  So amazingly simple, right there in black & white, a single paragraph that can be understood by anyone. No complex, convoluted rules or reasoning. No "researching" of dozens of articles to get the correct "reasoning" on the matter. No reading between the lines.

  But has the WTS figured it out yet? Of course they haven't!

  ok, you've probably guessed i'm not talking about the women!.

  but jesus had a beard (just look at any wt publication) so did paul, john the baptiser (or baptist if you've got an earlier publication), etc.. surely all jw men should have beards!

  well, my fluff thread on eggs went over pretty well, so i thought i would start one on bacon.

  now, of course, bacon and eggs go together.

  No Blood for Baby

  rosemary soto, a premature baby, who had been ordered a blood transfusion by a judge, went home yesterday.

  turns out, she didn't need it after all.

  instead, doctors administered erythropoietin therapy, which helped her body produce more blood cells.

  A court order had been issued, I think if the doctor saw the situation going south, he would have transfused. The state of Florida set the precedent many years ago that when a minor needs transfusion therapy, court orders are issued to give the medical decision making to the hospitals. It's virtually useless to try and fight it.

  Cancer

  you might think i'm being picky here, please dont take this the wrong way.

  the thing is, i'm stuggling with my health at the moment and am going in hospital to see if my cancer has spread.. heres my gripe: some people (noone on this board) say to me, over and over, that they know someone who had skin cancer and they're fine now....how they can just remove the mole and everything is fine.

  I couldn't agree more. One experience in the derm office involved a lady who came in to consult the doc about a lump that was on her shoulder. My boss determined that it was a simple lipoma (a benign tumor) but suggested it be excised due to its location and the fact that it had increased in size. The patient readily agreed. On the day of surgery all went according to plan until I retracted the skin edges. Lipomas are fatty tumors, yellowish in color, and the underlying tissues are pink. This thing was GREY. I knew without the doc saying a word that we were not looking at a lipoma. We excised the mass, closed the incision and sent the tissue off to pathology. It was a soft tissue sarcoma. We sent this lady for tumor bed re-excision at the UDub, postoperatively she had several cycles of chemotherapy as a precautionary measure.

  Mulan hit the nail on the head for everyone folks. You should feel comfortable about the treatment you're getting. Don't let docs put you off and don't let insurance companies "manage" your care. Remember your not just "patients" you're "medical consumers".
