Welcome aboard, Hannibal. Don't try to look to this site or any other to provide you with the "answers." Contrary to Jw belief the "answers" are not found externally, by someone else telling you what to believe. You have to come to an understanding of yourself and the world around you. Only then will you find the answers.

Hi, John. Listen to me, listen carefully... Go play Dungeons and Dragons, go read a Harry Potter book, go listen to Black Sabbath...Get a tattoo, get an ear pierced. God (should I use that term?), I love being EVIL!

I, too, in my jw days, "witnessed" much alcohol abuse. My ex-husband, then a witness had a serious drinking problem from his youth forward. I, too, was thrown up on. All of my friends, male and female overindulged. I have to wonder if the pain involved in living in such an oppressive environment contributes to these "drunken bouts." Thank goodness I never fell into overdrinking and am now very proudly married to a "worldly" man who will not touch a drop of alcohol.

We just celebrated my eldest daughter's 16th birthday. A great time was had by all and no one lost their heads!! Zazu as usual has a good point, the look of joy on your daughter's face will more than make up for any doubts you may have. Welcome aboard, by the way!

Hi, John. My husband and I were just discussing this subject this morning. I think that most of us who were JWs were brainwashed into thinking that spirituality is an "outward" thing - how far you advance in the org., how many hours of field service you put in, whether you get the juicy parts on the assembly. You became dependent on the org. to supply these rituals that you were taught were necessary to be "spiritually mature." Spirituality is not outwardly driven. Until one can develop a sense of real, inner spituality, one will look for another way or another organization to provide "spiritual" props. I also very much understand being shellshocked by the whole JW thing. I run screaming at the mere mention of nay organized religion.

Question for gay people
by expatbrit inthe question is about the term "tolerance" or "tolerating".. when someone says something along the lines of "i'm very tolerant of gay people" or "gay people should be tolerated", how do you feel?.
the reason i ask is this: doesn't the concept of tolerating something imply a background negative?
for instance, i can say "i tolerate my brother-in-law".

I'm just sitting here thinking- How would I feel if someone asked "Do you tolerate small, white, heterosexual females?" This is too ridiculous! How insulting to Joelbear, et al. I love my gay friends. I love my straight friends.

We'll have a gay ol' time
by riz ini recall having a conversation with a friend about homosexuality not too long ago.
he put a new spin on the subject that i had never thought of before.
he said his opinion was that the bible condemns homosexuality for the simple fact that the act of sex between same-sex partners does not produce children.

I remember sitting at a meeting not too many yaers ago and listening to an elder's wife pontificate endlessly on how having double pierced ears means that you are trying to emulate gay males. I looked around at the embarassed expressions on the faces of the elders' wives, all of whom had double pierced ears. Yet another case of the JW's fear tactics. I personally have a very good friend and co-worker who is gay. Different strokes!

Just meandering. I'm terrified of any organized religion. I do have a friend who is a Wiccan priestess and teaches pagan Sunday school. Had some young ex-witness kids over on Sunday and they are really investigating "alternative stuff." I think I'm too old and to didtrustful to get involved in anything. -

I Think That I Chose My Parents.
by Englishman indo you believe in reincarnation?.
i dont think i believe in it in the same way that most believers do, which is that we keep coming back in different fleshly bodies until we have achieved perfection.. i do, however, strongly suspect that we may well be spirit creatures who find it necessary to inhabit a fleshly body from time to time, and that this entails us having to leave behind most of our past memories.. i say most memories, because many people seem to have some vestigal recollections that don`t seem to fit in with earthly experiences.. i`m pretty sure that i chose my parents!
i have a recollection of being shown a young and kind couple through some form of astral telescope and choosing to become their son.

Just a thought... As witnesses, we were taught that our hearts were treacherous and not to heed them. Could it be possible that some of these premonitions et al. are actually naturally generated by us when we allow ourselves to listen to our hearts and think for ourselves? I've known to many cases, including myself, that seem to indicate that we as humans have great capacity for such abilities, if only we would allow ourselves to tap into them. Hey, TW, where are you? Can't wait for your post on this one.

Sorry for the incorrect advice. My head is just so full of pagan thoughts these days... I'll get right on the URI matter...

Wow, sometimes it semms that one can develop in inclination towards bronchial infection. You might want to try an herbal supplement that
contains fenugreek and thyme. In the States we have a very nice tea by Traditional Medicinals called Breathing Thyme which has been very helpful to some of my customers with chronic bronchitis. If you do choose to use an herbal tea, steep it for at least ten minutes to get the full benefit of the herbs. Capsule form will do nicely also. Hope you feel better soon.Twvsnt:
I know a lot of people who get too carried away with intestinal cleansing. If you choose to do it, please only do it seasonally. Many of these supplements are very potent laxatives and you risk becoming laxative dependent. If you are going regularly and eating lots of fiber your innards should be doing there job. Dairy-free acidophilus supplements are available.
Please when taking calcium avoid the ones that come from oyster shell. They are inclined to have high lead content. Calcium is easiest absorbed in the presence of acid so we prefer a calcium citrate formula.
Any form of good multi is okay. It's really a preference issue.
I like caps, chewables because I have trouble swallowing pills. Whatever you prefer though...
