another interesting thing to do is tell an emergency room dr after you've refused treatment that you are not afraid to die. it will blow their head off because telling you that you could die is their best attempt at getting you to stay and put up with their less than stellar care. too many people and institutions profit from fear of death.

What if you admitted you don't mind being destroyed @ Armaggedon?
by Knowsnothing inisn't that pretty much the end of a conversation with a jw?.
honestly, now that i think about it, what is the difference between judgment day(armaggedon) and death?.
just curious to see how my friends and relatives would react if i responded that way... .

Make it as you need it. The dough should last quite a few days if you refrigerate.
Naan
Ingredients
- 1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 4 1/2 cups bread flour
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic (optional)
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
Directions
- In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Let stand about 10 minutes, until frothy. Stir in sugar, milk, egg, salt, and enough flour to make a soft dough. Knead for 6 to 8 minutes on a lightly floured surface, or until smooth. Place dough in a well oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and set aside to rise. Let it rise 1 hour, until the dough has doubled in volume.
- Punch down dough, and knead in garlic. Pinch off small handfuls of dough about the size of a golf ball. Roll into balls, and place on a tray. Cover with a towel, and allow to rise until doubled in size, about 30 minutes.
- During the second rising, preheat grill to high heat.
- At grill side, roll one ball of dough out into a thin circle. Lightly oil grill. Place dough on grill, and cook for 2 to 3 minutes, or until puffy and lightly browned. Brush uncooked side with butter, and turn over. Brush cooked side with butter, and cook until browned, another 2 to 4 minutes. Remove from grill and chow down.
I discovered that a George Foreman grill cuts the cooking time in half. Cook about 4-5 minutes.

Our fears and loyalties were manipulated and exploited to make us accomplices in maintaining our own ignorance

Hooray for you, Free@last.
Let it rip because God doesn't care about your language; however, the squeaky clean ones on this db might. LOL
As Leonard Cohen said:
" You say I took the name in vain
I don't even know the name
But if I did, well really, what's it to you?
There's a blaze of light
In every word
It doesn't matter which you heard
The holy or the broken Hallelujah"Enjoy your freedom but never forget there are others out there (big pharma comes to mind) who will manipulate you through fear also.

FF:
if im a badboy then zap me or read my heart and judge.
i actually thought about saying that to my jw family. good subconcious awakener for next time they get preachy with me.
I totally agree. It is also a good response to the evangelicals who want to save us all.
I say do tell them. I've done it and the look on their faces is priceless.

Jehovah deserves to die - according to his own Law.
by Essan inyup, that's right.. if we apply the principle from god's own law at deuteronomy 22:8, that is.. .
"when you build a new house, you must build a railing around the edge of its flat roof.
that way you will not be considered guilty of murder if someone falls from the roof.

Oy! Sorry to highjack Essan, but I was enjoying myself. I'll sign off for now. Got to go to the grocery to get the ingredients for chicken korma and naan. I know, I know, it's not kosher but it tastes so good!

I think that unless a Jew lives on the east or west coasts, kosher food is difficult to get. There are more Jews in KC than in Joplin but even then there are only small communities and there are not many merchants who will cater to their Jewish customer's needs. I guess there just aren't enough of us around to have a very big impact. That is why I do not understand the Jewish Conspiracy folk. There just aren't that many of us to worry about.

I agree, Moshe. One of the rabbis who gave lectures to my conversion class was a conservative Jew who kept a kosher kitchen. He and his wife were lovely hosts but, man, what a pain in the neck to have to follow all the customs.
Passover passed me by this year. I have been ill and I just didn't feel like schlepping to Kansas City in order to find Kosher meals. However, I did eat a lot of vegetables which are considered kosher. I just didn't hunt down and eradicate all the leavened crumbs that might be hanging around my house, and I didn't clean out my freezer of leavened products. Besides, I never feel I am doing the ritual correctly.
There are only a handul of Jews in Joplin and although they are supposed to be reform, the whole ceremony is in Hebrew and I just cant follow along since I cant recall most of the Hebrew I had to learn for conversion. I also quit going because I do not feel the presence and peace of Shekinah during shabbat. That may be because we havent a rabbi. We only have visiting, student rabbis, when we have a rabbi at all.
When I do celebrate Shabbat on Friday evenings, I do it at home with my prayer book.
