  KH 1st timer, could use some advice

  hey people, .

  i am soon going into a kh for the first time and i could use some advice around etiquette etc.

  i know next to nothing besides the fundamental beliefs of jws, i personally dont believe in any religion, and that stance isnt ever going to change, however i don't want to come across as rude or disrespectful.

  Going to the memorial? You've made an excellent choice. It is endearing that you wish to make a good first impression.
  

  There is no need to be nervous. You have probably thought that Jehovah's Witnesses are stuffy people, but they are far from it. They are humble and down to Earth and have a great sense of humor. Just relax and be yourself-- your real self because Jehovah's Witnesses are uncomfortable around hypocrites.
  

  Everybody tries to be polite and pass the plate of crackers and the glass of wine along to the new fellow, so make sure to be polite in return and sample their wares. Don't forget to tell them how delicious it is. You might also want to take a c.d. of kingdom melodies and lead the dance under the full moon in the KH parking lot before you leave. This will much please them and they will be sure to invite you back next year.

  No Satan

  that was one of the first of the prepackaged beliefs from my church that i let fall.. why?.

  because i'd stared evil in the face and lived to tell about it.

  i know it's textures, it's dark places, the feel, smell, perversion, degradation, corruption of it.

  Satan appears as a proper character only once in the Hebrew Bible. In the Book of Job he is depicted as an angel who mocks the piety of a righteous man named Job. He tells God that the only reason Job is so religious is because God has given him a life filled with blessings. "But lay Your hand upon all that he has, and he will curse You to Your face" (Job 1:11). God accepts Satan’s wager and allows Satan to rain all manner of misfortune upon Job: his sons and daughters die, he loses his fortune, he is afflicted with painful boils. Yet even though people tell Job to curse God, he refuses. Throughout the book Job demands that God tell him why all of things horrible things are happening to him but God does not answer until chapter 38. "Where were you when I established the world?" God asks Job, "Tell me, if you know so much" (Job 38:3-4). Job is humbled and admits that he has spoken of things he does not understand.

  The Book of Job grapples with the difficult question of why God allows evil in the world. It is the only book in the Hebrew Bible that mentions "satan" as a sentient being. The idea of satan has a being with dominion over a metaphysical realm never caught on in Judaism. Judaism is so strictly monotheistic that the rabbis resisted the temptation to characterize anyone other than God with authority. Rather, God is the Creator of both good and evil and it is up to mankind to choose which path they will follow.

  steve imhof, a bethelite in the 1970s and former very active elder who became a very vocal wt critic starting in 2002, was 65 years old when he died.

  he was father to three children and two grandchildren.

  The Imhof family were excellent hosts, warm and caring people, and they welcomed this still shaken xjw into their home in 2003.

  Steve was brilliant, his love of physics kept me fascinated for hours. He was truly a good man. I had always hoped to see him again one day.

  the hexagram represents the union between God and mankind. The triangle coming down is God reaching out to us. The triangle going up represents us reaching toward God. The two find union and embrace one another. You must be confusing the Magen David with the Tao yinyang symbol of male and female.

  my italian friend loves going to the "feasts" that occur in italy, boston or nyc.

  these feasts feature a "saint" with dollar bills pinned around her and they parade the saint in a long procession and chant "viva (whomever)".

  they are quite serious about this and are proud to talk about the past generations of observers who appreciated the events.
