Free, I certainly understand. Believe me, I've been there. I'm just trying to let you know how wonderful it will be when you are finally out.
Take good care, friend.

Knocking on doors and pestering citizens is a joke. It doesnt matter what day of the week it is or what the weather is doing. And if you know it's a joke, then why da hell are you out there doing it??? I dare you to lead a mutiny in your car assignment. I double dare you to never go out in field circus again.

..specifically, the suffering of animals.
you can talk about free will/sin/people choosing to not listen to god etc to explain human suffering being allowed.. but how can you love a god that allows animals, that haven't sinned or chosen to not have anything to do with god, to have their short lives ended in often long, drawn out, painful ways.
i could list stories i've read that would probably make you feel ill, but i'm not looking to shock anyone or start an emotional debate.
). ROBDAR: I'm questioning the belief in a loving God designing creatures that cause each other to suffer. I can agree with people who believe there's a Creator who doesn't care for individual creatures.. But I can't feel any warmth towards a God that designs living beings to tear each other apart/poison/eat from the inside out etc.. I appreciate your point about the snake having a defense, but can I assume that you wouldn't be phased at all by seeing a rabbit being poisoned/crushed to death/eaten alive by a snake? I doubt that you could feel nothing.. Does God have less empathy for animals than you or I ? (I'm not trying to be inflammatory, honestly.) Thanks for the reply.
Quiet (Dear) One: I've had the same questions, doubts and fears. I've finally decided that if there is a God (and I believe there could be) that we will never be able to understand him/her and there is no point in even trying to understand.
I just know that I am here, on this lovely, dangerous earth, having an adventure. While I am here, I will show empathy to the animals and I will do my best to do that which I wish God would do. And if, as I believe, WE ARE GOD experiencing himself in this dimension, I will know that God is loving and kind because I will be loving and kind (at least most of the time).

Is duality suffering? Is a tornado inherently evil? Some things simply are. Some things are chaos and some things are orderly, some neutral. Of the neutral, we make it black or white. And we should not confuse chaos with evil.
Poopsie, wouldn't a loving god give a ground crawling snake a way to protect itself? Just because a snake has venom that could kill you doesn't mean that God is not loving. He loves you and he loves the snake. Get in the way of the snake and Darwin has something to say about it but that doesn't mean that God is not love.

Why does God allow suffering? Whoever said that he shouldn't? Why do you believe that he should prevent suffering? Are you confusing the Creator/Artist with a big ol' sky daddy?
at costco with the wife buying half the store, but that's besides the point.
go to the shortest checkout lane and i recognized the checker from my old jw days.
she dated one of the brothers from my hall for awhile until she decided he wasn't spiritual enough.
Amusing story.

an important battle is brewing in israel between a orthodox sect and women's rights in public.. http://news.yahoo.com/jewish-gender-segregation-campaign-turns-violent-135056846.html.
since the news broke last week that a woman had been beheaded in saudia arabia for being a witch, and with the legal and physical assaults against abortion clinics here in the us the role of religion in society continues to demand our attention and activism..
Other than that, they are little different from the radical taliban of Afghanistan.
True, JW. But at least the Jews are raising hell about the treatment of women. That's more than the Muslims do.

A good Jewish friend of mine said to me yesterday, "Ultra Orthodox men are nothing but dicks. They move their wives into a neighborhood and start dropping babies as fast as they can. Pretty soon they are demanding rights they would never grant to others. And they wont stop screaming and making a scene until they get what they want. "
The Ultra Orthodox men in Israel do not have to work, nor do they serve in the military. They mooch off their families while claiming to study the Torah. The only thing they are studing the Torah for is proof that they are the chosen ones. They offer nothing to society. I, myself, have no use for them, having had a nasty encounter with a rabbi a couple years ago during Purim.
I am very pleased to see other Israeli Jews telling the Ultra Orthodox to back off. Locally, we're having conniptions over the incident.
