i read an article about a 1989 watchtower that stated the preaching work would be completed in our 20th century, but was revised in the bound volume to say "in our day".

i told my brother this and he said, "if it's on the net about jw's it's a lie".

i want to prove to him it was a fact.

3 in 1 thing again.

this is a site promoting a case of 20,000 and counting child molesters.

of course they had to have 3 areas to come up with a good number to start with.

why would this site want too take a number from three areas some may ask.

No Elder will say you can not go to the authorities for this crime.

Most elders will say that, if the accused is an elder or some other leader in the Society. Even if they grudgingly admit that you can go to the authorities, most elders will also threaten you with disfellowshipping if you do.

But that's still not the point. No JW elder will tell you that you should go to the authorities. No JW elder will tell you that you should not be telling this to a gang of untrained, unqualified amateurs at the Kingdom Hall. No JW elder will volunteer the phone number for Child Protective Services. The Society's policy is to do the absolute minimum the law will currently permit them to get away with to protect the innocent from further harm and prosecute the guilty, up to and including doing nothing at all.

That's what you're defending. It's evil.

The Society seems to imagine that there is something virtuous or commendable in reporting to the branch office. There isn't.

the elders may be required by law to report even uncorroborated or unsubstantiated allegations to the authorities.

The Society recognizes no obligation to uphold the law, punish the criminals, or protect the victims, current or future, JW or not.

If so, we expect the elders to comply.

If forced to against their will, they will grudgingly do the absolute minimum permitted by law to punish the criminals, or protect the victims, current or future, JW or not.

Additionally, the victim may wish to report the matter to the authorities, and it is his or her absolute right to do so.

Of course, she will be disfellowshipped and shunned by her family and the only friends she has ever known, but she has the absolute right to become an apostate and be killed by Jehovah at Armageddon.

In the United States, reporting requirements vary from state to state.

Remember, the Society is interested in doing only the absolute minimum required by law.

It can be quite a challenge to keep abreast of the reporting requirements, but our Legal Department makes every effort to do so

And under no circumstances will the Society EVER tell or advise the victim to call the cops. Grudgingly allow, maybe. But encourage, NEVER!!

Their condemnation is just.

Comments: ". . . they have been called perhaps the most unreported of crimes." Yes, and the Society is apparently determined to keep it that way. "Often, those who report that they were victims of such crimes are treated with incredulity, not compassion." Particularly if the victim is a young JW girl and the perp is a JW Elder. "Inevitably, then, some of them do seem to get away with their disgusting crimes." Yes, if the abused victim cannot produce any witnesses who saw it happen, it is indeed inevitable that the Society will let the rapist get away with it.
Again, I was right in saying that nowhere is the reader advised to ever call the police. The only mention of police is as someone who might tell you to jump off a building or touch you where he shouldn't. Oh, and one passing mention of the police arresting someone:

"PLEA to Jehovah Halts Molester's Attack on Youth," declared a headline in the U.S. newspaper The Arizona Republic, on May 5, 1993. The alleged molester abducted the 13-year-old youth at gunpoint, taking him to the perpetrator's apartment. When the youth cried out, "Jehovah, help me!" the molester was shaken and let the boy go free. The police later apprehended the man.

Even there, no mention that a good JW should call the police under any circumstances. No mention of the existence of the Child Protective Services. No phone numbers where you can call to get help or counseling. The silence is deafening.
There is some very good advice in these articles. Following it can help prevent child abuse, and that's good. But if the worst does happen, these articles do not tell you the right thing to do. And no, I'm not buying the "rogue elder" theory as an explanation for why they do not.

I had Google's translation software translate the website. Got a kick out of the rendering of the Revelation book's title: Detection. Its huge apex is near! Yes, I'm sure it is.

Another title lost a lot in translation: the greatest man who never has existed. Oops!

Any form of sex is a death magnet in these situations. Particularly if you are any of the following: 1) young, 2) good-looking, 3) a virgin (either sex) or 4) female.

Unfortunately, if you are a young, good-looking, female virgin, somebody in the group is already thinking about having sex with you, and both of you are as good as dead already.
