i dont know what being saved is, except that God promises some sort of salvation. Whether that means saving us at an end tribulation, or saving us to be in heaven when we die, no idea.
i dont think the elders are any more guilty of misleading people than any other religion, including muslims and jews.
if you are brought up as as a jew/muslim/christian/ and accept that God/Allah is our father, its not like the ancients who were condemned for
worshiping false gods and idols such as golden cows. those that fast for ramadam (sic) dont spend a month not eating because they are evil, but because they are trying to please God. witnesses go pioneering, not to mislead, but because they think they are pleasing God. they are "trying" to do the right thing.
surely God must recognize that and not haul us up on a technicality such as, well you should have looked harder and tried to find the truth.
nobody seems to have the truth, whole truth and nothing but the truth, so we are all in the same boat really.

i agree. we are the ones that point to each other and say we are right you are wrong, not God. I reckon He will even save the witnesses as they do love God, just are misguided. You cant tell me the pioneer woman who devotes her life to Him wont be saved cos shes a jo-ho, just as the vicar who preaches trinity doctrine will be saved.
I think everyone who loves God, has a good heart and tries to be/do good will be ok whatever happens at "the end", be it heaven or resurrection.

I was baptised tonight!
by ness21 inyay!
i was brought up as a j/w and my mum stopped going when i was a teenager.
i tried to get back into it as an adult but spent more time in the bible studies arguing, so i kind of realised after a few years it was going nowhere.. spent years just studying on my own cos i couldnt find a christian organisation i felt i agreed with and stayed clear of church cos of so called.

I spent over 20 years just trying to find some spiritual direction on my own, as I, like you, though that all churches were as bad as each other. But it is very hard to be inspired on your own, so I always felt the need to study with others, as I always believed. However I didnt think I would ever find anyone and was destined to be my own little religion! But I think it is important to study with others, and hey the church may have its faults like all of them, but i dont feel i am constantly being judged, i wasnt asked 365 questionsto get baptized, and when i had a talk with him, he said it was ok to be unsure about things (ie trinity, heaven when die) as none of us really know. I found taking communion amazing, as it makes me feel so much closer to Christ than I ever used to, and now I have been baptized it is as if the final barrier has been taken down. I dont feel like I am the seed that is thrown on the rocky path or thorn bush anymore :)
with love

>>by water ,,,or did you go all the way with fire as well?
just water! I had a full immersion which i always wanted. actually it was ironic, one of the ladies in the congregation who is absolutley a lovely lady said she was kind of wistful. she had been baptized as a baby but wanted to have had a full immersion as an adult like Jesus so it was her own action. The vicar arranged it in 2 weeks, they really are a lovely congregation.

thanks for all of your wishes, and congrats too renee! abandoned, i am 37 now so it has taken me over 20 years to get this point, still think armageddon is coming when i hear thunder! keep persevering, it really isnt "false religion", i think maybe the witnesses are the ones with that as they dont take communion. it really is the most moving experience to accept the body and blood of Christ through the bread and wine. I feel so much closer to Him.

"false religion" and being under satans guidance. anyway went for a teaching job at a church of england school that i knew was very good, got the job, went to eucharist, took communion, told mum, she said i had to be baptised
so tonight i was baptised, at last! yay :) they even made me a cake.
finally realised that church is body of christ after all.
