The conductor today had an iPad while the reader read from a printed copy. The conductor was kind of irritated when he saw his was different and mouthed "that's not in here" to another elder in his seat also using an iPad. That elder went and got a printed copy and began comparing the two. Nothing was said of it and that was the extent of what happened when they discovered it.

They cannot just return to the congregation as the elders decide on how long a person remains disfellowshipped. For instance if you confessed to fornication and are disfellowshipped and never do that sin again the elders may reinstate you, meaning people can talk to you again in six, nine, twelve months or whatever they deem. The shortest I have personally seen is nine months. As far as the verses read to you they do not follow that procedure for what they consider serious sins. The elders will always form a judicial committee for what they consider serious sins even if as the scripture says the person listens.
A very serious sin is disagreeing publicly with the organization or some doctrine. You will be disfellowshipped for those reasons. If you think that disfellowshipping is fine than so be it. But I will run another scenario by you. A child raised a witness gets baptized at 14 and at 16 likes a boy. They mess around and commit pornea by watchtower standard definition and are both disfellowshipped. At 16 they can no longer speak to anyone they know.
or at the same age they start researching and discover things they don't believe in. If they vocalize these to the elders the child will be disfellowshipped at 16 or whatever age they are at the time. They are forced to profess they believe JW doctrine to ever be reinstated to be able to talk to the people they know again.

Am I wrong or right please clarify if you know
by Skeptical78 ini recently became aware of the new light.
please correct me if i'm wrong, but doesn't this new light concerning 1914 means that the wt have been preaching the wrong doctrine for decades?

What I find interesting is you refer to us as we are some type of relgion, a church. There is only one common thread here for most of us, we don't believe Jehovah's Witnesses are God's chosen organization. There are atheists, christians, mormons, wiccans, and probably many other belief systems here. Do you impress yourself by telling people to enlighten you? You already said that is impossible, as your truth is your truth, and mine would be mine. Believe in 607, believe in the Governing Body, I don't care one bit. The fact is you are here to debate, and rant, and provoke by your last post number 35. I'm sure there will be people who take you up on that offer. So far though I have not seen you defend how the JWs claim to be God's spirit directed organization and yet change their beliefs constantly. Here is a better one, why don't you enlighten me on why I should believe Jehovah's Witnesses? I have never had a JW able to do that when I presented why I don't believe them.

Well I must first say this is mostly a web site of people who disagree with the watchtower, me included. Mid you choose to continue reading here is the explanation.
JWs will introduce you to their doctrine of paradise on earth, living forever, no hellfire, seeing dead loved ones very soon as a way to hook people in. They get you convinced of all these things prior to telling you about disfellowshiping and great detail of holidays and politics like you mentioned. The reason being is most people would not listen to them if they knew the not so happy things about being a JW. Once they convince you of the happy things many people will just accept the negative stuff in order to feel like they will survive and live in paradise.
There are many things you should research before you take JWs seriously. if you could imagine would you listen to JWs if they started off with you will die if you do not become a baptized Jehovahs witness and then turn around and knock on peoples doors telling them the same thing. Of course not. But in fact that is exactly what JWs believe. I could go into great detail on what binlical teachings I think the JWs have incorrect but all it takes is the search button and it's already been discussed.

What do DO's do when not visiting assemblies?
by Richard_I inlet's say they attend a dozen circuit assemblies.
that's only 12 weeks they spend with a congregation.
what about the rest of the year?
-
SloppyJoe
Actually they attend most circuit assemblies covered in their district. It's more like 30+'weeks of circuit assemblies. When they have no assignment they can attend any congregation they choose.

What are the feelings/thoughts within 24-48 hours of exposure to an undeniably true (for you) TATT?
by NeverKnew inmany of us know where we were during 9/11 or when john kennedy and martin luther king were killed.. it seems that when faced with ttatt, real truth is dismissed as "ol' light" or "an imperfect group of men" but from what i gather, many of you, at some point, were hit with a component of ttatt that shattered all of those cliches that allowed you to brush off the obvious reality that something was very wrong.
some of you may remember the hours following your earliest exposures to an undeniably true tatt.
did you zone completely out?

I was raised in and started questioning things before I had the internet. I didn't do anything until I had the internet and found it exciting to learn all of this. I didn't realize how much grief I would cause people by talking about it though.

Jehovah's witnesses unknown trinity belief
by SloppyJoe init occurred to me that jws have a form of the trinity that they do believe in.
first they believe that jesus is the son of god, they then also believe that jesis is michael the archangel, and finally they believe that jesus is abbadon the angel of the abyss in revelation.
has anyone ever conversed with a jw about these three things?.

The UN thing!
by awakening ini think the most damning evidence that the organization was fully aware of what they signed up to is the articles in the magazines in the early 90's.
these articles were clearly fulfilling thier obligation to provide evidence to the un of support for the un's goals and objectives.. i presented this information to an elder who was surprised by the content of the articles.
the response from him was astonishing!

There used to be a web site that kept track of NGO articles that NGO wrote to be members. it had the wtbs listed and the Eleanor Roosevelt article cited as one example. Unfortunately I think the web site is gone.

New Light on the Name Jehovah?
by Ding ini've heard from two different sources today that the wt is making some announcement next week about a new understanding about the name jehovah?.
has anyone else heard about this?.
i can't imagine them tinkering with the name....

I would think they are confusing the recent letter read at the meetings about the draw close to Jehovah book. That was related to the change in the meaning if the name Jehovah which was discussed at the annual meeting.
