Wasa,
Lets make this a team effort. I have a gun. I want to purchase a new gun. I also want to take a training course, and go to the shooting range to practice on a regular basis. Since we live so close, maybe this is something we can do together. As you handle a gun more, and find your comfort level, you can make a better decision regarding the right choice for you. To carry or not to carry.
I was raised handling guns. But for 20 years I never touched a gun. Now it will be like learning all over again.
Lets take a Saturday, go to some gun shops, ask questions, become informed and then take the next step.

Are you still a pacifist?
by wasasister inlast night, i found myself wondering aloud about something i never thought i would consider: purchasing a gun.
previously, i had very strong anti-gun sentiments.
i felt, and still do to some extent, that freely available guns in this country are an immediate threat to children and add to the violent perception others have of americans.

To speak or not to speak !!!
by jurs inhere is a question for those who are either df'd or da'd.
what do you do when you run into a jw at the store ?
do you turn your head and pretend you didn't see them ?

O.k., O. K., here's what I do, I wave like crazy if I see them when I'm driving by or when they drive by me. I smile and say a very freindly hello, and ask how they are doing. I am not df'd. I have just stopped going to the KH, and associating. I have to work with them, and it is so funny to watch them try not to talk to me when we are with other people.
Some JWs have just walked away from me when I tried to say hello, and the fellow worker has called them an "asshole" for being so rude. It is very enteresting to see the reactions of those not affiliated with the org., when a JW acts so rudely.

Divorce Policy of JWs
by Ray Skyhorse ini have a general question about the policy of divorce.
i'm a not a jw.
can anybody get a divorce?

It's all a matter of politics. Whose going to hold out the longest. And who can prove the dirty deed, since there has to be two or more witnesses. The whole thing is very controlling. I'm so glad to be no part of the Org.

Thank you Expat. I didn't quite know how to put it in words. As far as You and your wife Ray, the Org., is so fickle, she might just get away with it. I think it would be a techiical question of who got married first. Her or him. Then the other is free to remarry because the X was adulterous!!!!

No, they would not be df'd. They would not be free to remarry until the other commited adultery or remarried. So, a JW can seperate or divorce but cannot remarry.
I know, I have been through it twice!!!!

Actually, JWs can divorce, they just can't remarry unless the other has committed adultery. When my X divorced me, he did not suffer any consequences and I was stuck not free to remarry!!! So I got married anyway. (after my X told me he had spent the weekend with another woman). The whole thing is stupid. My X is a JW in good standing still.
He never supported me or helped me financially except for one check he wrote which stated "bitch support" in the memo portion. I made a copy of the check and showed it to the elders, they didn't even care.
I think the elders make up a few rules as they go along.

D.A. vs. Slow Fade
by Black Man inwhich is better in your estimation?
hit the borg with a d.a.
letter or do the slow fade.

The slow fade is working for me. Although I have a feeling I will be announced as bad association real soon. Since the elders have found out I'm married. I am so amazed that only the JWs would make getting married a shameful thing. Something to hide.
I am much happier now and would never go back to that life. -

I started finding it very difficult to go to the meetings, I hated it. I was tired of the repetition in the lessons, and the fake smiles from the Bros., and Sis., There was just of feeling of "this isn't right" and would actually be very irritable while getting ready to go to the meetings, and exhausted after the meeting. What a waste of my time!!! I began to feel like I was failing my daughter by dragging her to the meetings and not allowing her to do all the fun stuff of regular society kids. The elders would "encourage" me by making me feel like I was not carrying my full load of the witness work. There's so much more that I could add to it, but bottom line is the phoney crap and all the lies made me leave. And I am so glad I did!!!(:D)
