  How Jehovah's Witnesses are told to treat disfellowshipped Relatives.

  in another thread it was mentioned the witnesses do not shun disfellowshipped relatives, so i thought i would copy a few articles that show the watchtower says quite definitely that they are to almost totally shun relatives, along with some examples that i know personally.

  i personally know many that have not been contacted by their parents for years;my cousin was my best friend, and for a year before my disfellowshipping week after week i spent hours with her and her child, who spent 4 months of his first year in hospital.

  on the day of my disfellowshipping i was informed that i am no longer welcome there, and i have not seen my second cousin for 6 months now.

  Hi:

  Do not be mistaken. The WTS is still telling its members to totally shun family members that are either not active, DA, of DF.

  We are planning a family reunion during the first week in August, 2006 for our 72 year old mother, who really wants the reunion with all her living children (8) and grandchildren, cousins, etc. (Our father passed away 9 years ago).

  However, because some of us are not active or DA, my three sisters -who are self-righteous JW's (there are 5 girls and 3 boys) are refusing to come to the family reunion-bacuase of those of us who are not active or DA. will be attending. So myself and my twin sister, and our three brothers are planning the events for the family reunion. Fortunately my aunt, uncle and other cousins are coming. They are not JW's.- although my aunt and uncle were raised in the JW organization.

  My mother is still an active witness, but she does not care if some of us are in or out of the organization. She just wants to see all of us while she is alive and healthy and able to enjoy our company and have a good time together. She doesn't want to dwell on the negative about the other siblings that are refusing to come or to say how hurt she really is. But when I spoke with her yesterday, I assured her that we are going to have fun together and if the others do not want to come, it's their loss. They may regret their decision later on and they may not.

  So, all-in-all, there will be about 25 of us (5 of us siblings and spouses, our children, grandchildren, aunt, uncle and cousins).And we plan to have a good time: in Charlotte, NC. ( My mom lives in Monroe, NC).

  Shopping, bowling party (we are a family of bowlers), and our family reunion dinner.

  This organization's ways and rules have hurt so many families- it is truly not from Jehovah God or Jesus Christ.

  Actual Number of the anointed remaining

  heard from a sister that a visitor to their cong (from usa) mentioned in passing that at the top at brooklyn they did not think that the reported number of anointed still alive was accurate, rather they believe that only a couple of hundred remain.

  they apparently believe this points to the end soon (again) - also if it is true they are not proclaiming it (obviously because the time limit it imposes will be exposed as another failed date).

  odd if that is the case as they keep on finding gb members who are not actually very old

  My husband and I stopped paying attention to the amount of anointed remaining once we decided that the JW's were not the only ones to go to heaven..............

  I still have my 1988 edition of the Revelation book.

  If anyone saw all my marks, notes, etc.- you would have thought I was studying to prepare a thesis for college.

  If anyone has forgotten the following chapters: 21-24- " Jehovah's Plagues on Christendom"; "The First Woe- Locusts"; The Second Woe- Armies of Cavalry" , and "A Sweet and Bitter Message"- then you will know how ridiculous this book really is and was.

  And to believe we fell for this garbage!!!

  i do however, have my story posted on shauns' site http://jwfiles.com/jws-leaving/william.htm i also wrote and article for that site comparing the prophecies of 1925 and 1975. http://jwfiles.com/1925-1975.htm just a little background on me: i served as an elder in philadelphia.

  I was one of the many hundreds that helped renovate the Stanley Theatre Assembly Hall in Jersey City, NJ.

  It is a beautiful place and very expensive to maintain.

  The borg knew exactly what they were doing when they fought the establishment to get this property.

  Thank you for this explanation.

  My husband and I could not understand how at every circuit assembly there would be a surplus, then deficit, then surplus, then deficit...........etc.

  It just did not make sense.

  Many years ago we stopped giving donations at the circuit and district assemblies. We only donated for the up-keep of the KH.

  Looking for Bethelite Couple- Jim (James) and Antoinette Roundtree from NY

  i am re-posting in the hopes that someone can give me an answer to my search:if anyone is from ny and knows the roundtrees-jim (james) and antoinette roundtree.

  they were bethelites for a long time- assigned to the lakeview congregation in queens,ny- now dissolved- changed to the st. albans or linden congregation in queens, ny.

  if anyone knows whether they were also asked to leave bethel or transferred to wakill or paterson,, or where they are, let me know.

  They were a really nice couple and Jim Roundtree performed our wedding talk for our marriage 12 years ago.

  as a jw..did you ever have a REAL theological discussion with anyone?

  this came up in a conversation with a non witness friend lately.

  he said its like i thought i was having theological discussions all the time but from what he could tell...i would go to the door with prearranged comments, which would illicit one of a few comments and my response would be as programmed as the initial comments.

  i'm no brainy person.. and freely admit i'm not the sharpest tool in the shed.

  Do You Recognize Yourself As A Jehovah's Witness Still?

  i haven't been to a meeting in 3 years and when i tell people about my past, i tell them i used to be a witness.

  I think everyone should realize what and who a witness of Jehovah is. Not a person necessarily belonging to any organization.

  I witness of Jehovah is one who witnesses and proclaims the truths about Almighty God, his son Jesus Christ, and the hope of the Kingdom, etc..

  Therefore, I will always consider myself a Witness of Jehovah in how I conduct my life and treat others in the Christ-like way. However, I will never allow myself to be associated with a man-made religious organization.

  There is an account in the Bible (I cannot remember the exact scriptures) where Jesus' Apostles wanted to stop a man from preaching or praising Jesus or God because they felt he did not have the holy spirit or was not one of the Apostles and doing it-their way. Jesus reprimanded them and advise them to let the man preach or praise God because it was a good thing, etc.

  My point is that there are many witnesses of Jehovah in the world, not just in the WTS organization.

  Hi:

  I think it was great what you did.

  The elders and WTS think they can use scare tactics on everyone and pressure them into submission to their ways.

  You showed them who's really boss.

  Good for you..............do not despair.

  You will find as each day goes by how really free you are. Remember Jesus Christ admonishment at John 8:32: " and you will know the truth and the truth will set you free".
