I think its fair to say that History will judge the invasion of iraq as a complete disaster. The blundering done by Bush ,and also let us not forget the Lies too,should SHOULD put him in the same bracket as Nixon ..at the very least!

I get it. BTW - you won't see me driving around with a GW bumper sticker on my car. But what I'm asking for is your opinion on your country's leaders to prevent Iran from obtaining atomic weapons.

I still find it ironic that within three pages of posts, hardly anyone has commented on the situation with Iran and europe's attempt to prevent Iran from developing WMD. Once again shows me in all things big and small it's always easier for people to bitch about things rather then offer a solution.

So many people who get their information from one source(usually Fox News), and repeat what they hear as if it's proven fact. "Kim Jong Il is starving his people to create a nuclear arsenal", "Iran will attack Israel", "Bush is always right and every other leader is evil".

Interesting how you grab two of my quotes but then fabricate a third one. "Bush is always right", Ha! I don't think so. But when I read stuff like "I'm more worried about a Texas redneck....blah blah blah..." it just makes me wonder what's going through people's minds.

In North Korea a man who's willing to starve to death his own people has an arsenal of nukes. In Iran a man who would be happy to see the destruction of the U.S. has been elected president and is trying desperately to build a nuke. Now, I don't know what else keeps you up at night but trusting Iran not to pass along a nuke to Al Qaeda is enough to give me nightmares.

As a boy, I remember on several occasions (funerals, beatings, broken arm, etc.) when I started to cry and my father would grab my arm and tell me to stop crying, that men don't cry. So I did as I was told.

Fast forward 25 years. Within a six month period both my grandfather and father suddenly died. I didn't cry. Not when the police called and told me that my father died in a car accident or at his funeral. To this day it really bothers me.

A few months ago my son's report card came in the mail and it wasn't good. He got a pretty good tongue lashing from his mom and I. His eyes teard up and he cried a bit knowing that we were so disaapointed in his grades.

In a strange was I was happy to see him cry.

Weird.

I don't see a problem with that. Where I see a problem is for people saying nukes are bad yet holding on to their stash. If they're bad, get rid of them. If you keep yours, let others have some too.

Who's saying nukes are all that bad? It can be argued that nukes have kept us from another World War. The key is having two sides that have too much to loose. U.S. vs. the Soviets, India vs.Pakistan, China vs. Japan (knowing that it can build a nuke quickly), etc. The problem with Iran is radical elements would have their finger on the bomb. These individuals couldn't care less about a counter-strike from the U.S. because, like the suicide bombers they train and support, they're ready to meet Allah and be in paradise with there 10 virgins.

If Iran is allowed to develop a nuke, there is no doubt in my mind that it will use it against Israel. They will. I remember a couple of years ago when that big earthquake hit Iran. Some 40 - 50 thousand people were killed, many were injured and many others were trapped underground. Iran accepted help from every nation except Israel. It's leaders felt that it would be better to allow it's citizens to die buried under rubble then to be saved by a Jew. The hatred for Israel by the leaders of Iran, not the Iranians themselves, is so strong it will use the bomb on them. Another possibility is a nuke going off in New York harbor or in a London subway. Then we'll all stand around and bitch about Bush not doing enough to stop Iran from developing nukes.

Invade Iran? I don't know. Air strikes? Maybe. All I know is the world is bitching about Bush & Co. so now lets see what our european cousins can do.

.My only problem is Bush,s eagerness to go flying in feet first,causing all kinds of trouble,stirring up hatred and resentment( the likes of which will go on for a long time)killing innocent Women and Children..all in the name of finding Nuclear ,biological and chemical Weapons that may or may not exist.Of course,in Iraq they didnt.

I agree. And I don't have a problem with having an investigation after the war HOWEVER, I want Kerry, Clinton, Kennedy and all the rest of the senators who voted for this war investigated.

Did Bush and our leaders exhaust every option before going to war? I guess history will tell us.

BTW, why would the US stand on the sidelines in regards to Iran? Aren't they supposed to be the world's police force? The enforcer of democracy and freedom, fighting evil dictators. Why pass the buck?

Hey, I'm just pointing out that this time Bush kept his nose out and let the europeans take the lead. Everyone's bitching about Bush and I'm not debating if he's right or wrong, I'm just asking what will the europeans do now that Iran has told them to buzz off?

The US just wants Europe to be stuck in a quagmire just to justify theirs. Why wait after Europe to settle this matter? Isn't it a matter of US national security to insure that Iran has no nukes? Kind of risky to leave such important issues in the hands of incompetents don't you find?

Why? Let the europeans handle Iran, the U.S. is busy enough with Iraq. Right now our allies could send in troops simply to secure the Iraqi border and stop the terrorists from coming in. They won't. But you're now asking the U.S. to help out with the situation in Iran? I thought being an ally was a give and take deal?

I agree, Europe is weak, and George pretends he's letting them have a go at their way (diplomacy), he knows it won't work (wouldn't work for him either).

So you're saying that diplomacy won't work with Iran? What other option are you proposing?

He's just looking for someone to blame cause he can't take care of matters himself, he doesn't have the manpower to do the job, so he's passing the buck, plain and simple.

No, he's saying "you don't like the way I do things, fine, let's do it your way."

Talk is cheap. Did it stop the North Koreans from building nukes? Nope. Will it stop the Iranians from building nukes? Nope. Say what you want about the war in Iraq. I can promise you one thing, Iraq won't be building nukes any time soon.

Flurry of new hall builds or remodels?

hi all.. what is going on in your area with respect to hall building or remodeling?

there are lots of remodel projects around my area; it does not seem that the growth is here to merit the building.. my hall is going to sell it's building to generate the cash for a new building; the current one is a 20 year old quick build.. the thing is this: i don't know why they just don't remodel, or split the hall.

the excuse is that there are not enough elders; so now they are going to put up a completely new structure to house a large congregation?

Like I posted before, I live in the second fastest growing county in the U.S. and there is no plans (that I know of) for building a new Hall. Hell, there is no need to. Looks like the same amount of cars in the parking lot for the last ten years even though the county has doubled in size.

Scares the hell out of me too. I think we in the US need to stop being hypocritical. We can't expect other countries to suspend their nuclear programs when we are expanding ours. Plus, leaders look at the nations that Bush has invaded and see that one way to protect your country from him is to have nukes.

I bet you also two get scared at bedtime. If you equate the U.S. having nukes (and controlled by Bush) to Iran and North Korea having nukes, then you two really need to sit down and educate yourselves about the leaders of those countries.

What should scare you is a leader willing to starve to death his own people in order to build up his military. He now has a half dozen nukes and an advanced ballistic missle program. If his people ever decided to rise up and over throw him, do you think he would hesistate to take out as many people with him as he can? I'd give it a 50 - 50 chance that he would. What about Pakistan and it's nukes falling into the hands of a fund. muslim government? That doesn't scare you?

C'mon, let's think before we post.

Also, I would rather be building up our Central American friends instead of building up China. I think we should concentrate more effort towards keeping infrastucture and investment closer to home in friendly, peaceful, democratic countries such as Mexico, Nicaragua, Chile, Argentina, and Costa Rica.

I agree. I'd much rather see the U.S. do business with those countries instead of China. The question is, do those countries want to make the investment? IMO the economic might of a nation is measured by it's manufacturing. The Chinese have made a decision to be an economic powerhouse and they have achieved this through their manufacturing base. You don't hear a lot of people saying "cheap Chinese crap" anymore. What is limiting China is their lack of natural resources. Blackouts in even there developed industrial areas is very common. What scares me is that the Chinese are building new hydro-electric dams like crazy and will soon have this problem under control.

If you think we've lost a lot of jobs to China over the last few years, you haven't seen anything yet. But, that's a topic for a differnt day....

Is Kim Jung IL a con artist? Absolutely. But you did leave out the fact that the US didn't live up to it's part of the agreement either. You know that whole "build them a powerplant" dealio?

In 1994 Carter, sent by Clinton, brokers a deal and billions of dollars in western aid is sent to North Korea with them agreeing to stop their nuke programs. In 1998 U.S. intelligence discovers that the North Koreans have a secret underground nuke plant so congress decides to stop sending them aid. I don't see a problem with that. I mean, shi* if we're going to pay blackmail money we should expect our blackmailers to do what we're paying them to do. BTW - we did give them a power plant.

Of course you are leaving out the whole acceleration process under Bush because of calling them part of the Axis of Evil.

Let's see. In the mid to late 1990's North Korea's leaders starve to death 4 million of their own people by diverting foreign aid sent to them for buying food which is instead spent of developing nukes and a ballistic missle program. On one occasion 20 million dollars of an 80 million dollar aid program is spent on Mercedes Benz automobiles. If that doesn't meet the criteria of being evil, I don't know what does.

So I ask again what would YOU have done differently???

1. Placed actual pressure on China to stop helping the North Koreans develop nukes. Threaten to prevent them from entering WTO. Impose sanctions on them if needed. Instead, the Clinton administration was buddies with the Chinese, thinking they would help stop the North Koreans from building nukes. Instead the Chinese played us for fools, did a lot of lip service and helped the North Koreans. I would have made the Chinese choose who they want to be friends with - the North Koreans or the U.S. 2. Prevented China, North Korea and Pakistan from trading missle and nuke technolgy with each other. While they were doing this in the late 1990's, the U.S. and Europe did nothing. As a matter of fact, we were so stupid that in 1998 the Clinton administration believed and anounced that North Korea did not even have a ballistic missle program, then, two weeks later, the North Koreans fired a missle right over Japan. It later landed off the coast of Alaska. DOH! 3. I would strongly considered missle strikes against North Korea's nuke sites.

And please more Europe bashing people!!!
