National Healthcare for the USA
by sammielee24 injust an fyi for anyone interested - there is a major drive on to push the bill forward for national healthcare in the usa.
you can sign the petition by going to http://www.onecarenow.org/.. it has gone through one part of the process last year and now the push is on to get it moved to the next level - it is backed by over 400 groups including the uaw i believe.
it is no longer if it happens, it is only a matter of time as to when it happens.

We in the US spent four times as much on health care yet we are way on the bottom of the list when it comes to life expectancy.
If true, it has more to do with Americans being fat asses rather then our quality of medical help. We can debate all day long about insurance and the cost of health care but if I were seriously sick, I'd rather be in a U.S. hospital then any other.

I use to be against it but, dam, with more and more good paying jobs moving overseas (along with insurance benefits) how do we expect people to afford today's skyrocketing premiums?
My mother, who's only 63, has high blood pressure. Guess what she pays each month to the insurance company? $1,000.00!!! She's lucky that my father behind enough money to cover that expense but a lot of seniors aren't. What do we do for them? Kiss them good-bye?

C'mon, they're all wack jobs.
Tom Cruise doesn't give a crap that his beliefs about depression in general, and postpartum depression in particular, offend anyone. He believes he's right and the medical profession is wrong and considers depression to be a "choice" that someone makes.
But, dam, that guy can put together a good movie. I was looking over my dvd collection the other day and I noticed for the first time that of all the movies I have, Cruise movies number the most. Just watched Colladeral and The Sammuri last week...great flicks.
If Cruise is using vodoo and witchcraft to help him make great flicks, spread it around Tom because most of your peers put out crap.

former membership of propagandistic system has shown already… we could have been Hitler’s willing executioners, circumstances beyond our control permitting.
Nice post....something I've wondered about often....had I been a German during the 1930's and early 40's or a young man in an German occupied country, would I have stood up to the Nazis or would I have gown with the flow. So easy to say "oh, I would have done this or that" but you never know for sure unless you've been there.
That being said, I do believe those who have have left the JW's, esp. those who were raised as one, do posess a certain courage not common place among men.

I'm all for the "ra-ra, let's wave the flag" but to be completely honest, did we help the Afgans out of love for them or moreso for our war with the Soviets....
They are the embodiment of the human spirit of freedom. Everyone who holds to that spirit everywhere, is an American.
Regarding the pics from the Abu Grav prison (and not saying that it wasn't wrong) but isn't it amazing the huge amount of condemnation of U.S. soldiers found here but nothing regarding the two U.S. soldiers who were kidnapped, had their eyes ripped out and then were beheaded? So before you get all bent out of shape because some naked dude had a dog collar put around his neck, show a little respect for the 99.99% of the men and women who are there fighting with honor in that hell hole. -

Panhandlers piss me off!
by Nosferatu inyesterday, my brother and his son were in town visiting.
me and the wife decided to go out and get some pizza to bring back for supper.. when we pulled up to the pizza shop, a guy came up to the car window and gave us his sob story about how he had cancer removed, how he refused to stay in the homeless shelter, and presented a stack of papers stapled together along with his mb health card.
he asked for any change that we may have.

I like the Wharf area and Pier 39 in San Francisco. You are encouraged to NOT donate to the panhandlers. They have big metal donation boxes (one is shaped like a dolphin .. looks like a statue) and you are asked to put your donations in the designated boxes. All monies go to Food Banks and Shelters. The homeless people should go there to get their handouts.
Now that's a good idea!

Convention badges worn at Wal-Mart
by purplesofa inlast night i was at wal-mart with a friend of mine.. as we were going in .......i saw a group of people with convention badges on.
they seemed out of place on a sat evening, dressed in suits and christian attire.. i could not help but think that they just had two days of their spiritual feeding and the superior feeling that comes over jw's at that time.
the leaving of the convention out into the world.. here i was, feeling "worldly" .......i felt a tinge of guilt go through me for not being at the convention.

but what is the point of wearing badges to Wal-Mart?
Cuz the Society tells them to. One of the endless little tests to determine whether JW's are being truly submissive to the Slave.Exactly. The WT "officially" says it's to encourage informally witnessing but everyone knows it's simply a test. Just how obedient will YOU be? How far can they push you?
A couple of weeks ago, I was at a resturant having dinner with a friend when I noticed two JW couples sitting there dressed in their '70's meeting attire with their badges still on. Was very, VERY creepy. I recognized one of the male JW's. Can't recall his name or congregation but I remember he was a hard-line elder. I just had to wonder if he'd counsel any JW's who walked in without wearing their badges.
"We don't need no stinkin badges"
