I love my roku, I use it every day!
You could hook up your laptop to your TV and use it as a monitor, then stream from the laptop. There's a special cable you'll need for that, but it's not expensive
i know about roku, but currently don't think it any better than the laptop i have connected to my television to stream netflix.. i have considered a media-pc with remote or perhaps a remote keyboard and mouse.
i like the idea of the tv subbing as an extra pc on occasion - plus i would like to be able to stream other programs besides just netflix [like fancast or national geo or history or some news clips].. any suggestions beyond or in addition?.
thank you in advance.

have you ever refered to the jw's as a cult in front of an elder?
what was their reaction?.
.
I did once, I called up an elder and left a message on his machine, told hom that the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society was a cult and hung up. He called me up and dsaid he didn't appreciate me leaving those messages on his machine. yet he never did anything about it. Years later I was told he was DF'd.

jws cannot get involved with politics.
exjws certainly can and based upon responses from this site, many are quite opinionated about political matters.. are you very involved in politics at this point in your life?
do you really believe that your opinion, your vote means all that in the big scheme of things?
I have never gotten involved in politics of any kind, have never registered, never voted. I don't even fill out those silly surveys. Just shredded mine the day it came in and today I got one of those "We haven't received your survey yet" my response was shredding it.
here is a strange premise.
god speaks through you, but, you make errors.
when your errors are pointed out it means you have been blessed!.
1938 - Communion bread and wine identified as symbols of the body and blood of the 144,000
Can you clarify this Terry. Are you saying the Society taught that the bread and wine DID NOT reprsent Jesus body and blood, but instead the 144,000 only? If so, any references?
... aka p s l johnson was made to look the villain in the 1975 yearbook of jw's.. i've done research and found out that he resisted rutherford to the bitter end.
he referred to rutherford as "that usurper", and was ousted from bethel.. he seems to have been a fanatic who idolized c. t. russell; his impassioned eulogy at russell's funeral borders on deification.. is that why rutherford hated him so much?.
p s l johnson was founder of the laymen's home missionary movement.. sylvia.
Here it is Sylvia - http://biblestudents.net/htdb/r6006b.htm
Paul Johnson was a close confidant of Russell, and excepted EVERTHING he thought, even his shortcomings for 1914. While Russell aqdmitted he was wrong about what he expected to happen by 1914, Johnson decided he was right about it all.
Johnson believed that the door to heaven closed in 1914, and that we entered the epiphany stage of the Lord's presence. He proclaimed himself the Epiphany Messenger, and had outlined a series of 22 books titled the Epiphany Studies in the Scriptures, only 17 were published, the last few were published posthumous. When he died it was said that he stated in his will that he was the last highpriest on earth (last of the 144,000).
The Laymen's Home Missionary Movement was actually founded by C.T. Russell. It was a name he used to publish with. It can be seen on certain "Bible Students Monthly and Old Theology Quarterly tracts as well as mentioned in the Watch Towers of that time period.
Apparently it wasn't incorporated, so that Johnson could incorporate it andc use it for his own ministry.
just heard about the death of joel siegel, the entertainment critic for abc, and found myself, surprisingly, in tears.
maybe it was because he had such a young son and made plans to let him know how much he was loved, long before he died.
maybe because i have watched him for so many years.
