hmmmm ... let's see .... we had a homosexual elder, who was married. A pioneer sister who did "tricks" on the side. An MS who raped a 15 year old unbaptized female.
An elder who gave another elder 5 kids. "Elder 2" didn't know his wife was having an affair with "elder 1"

Other Revelation Interpretations
by maputo95 inhas anyone read other works intrepretating "revelation" such as done by rc, baptist or lutheran scholars and also by humanists.
the mark of a cult, i feel, are restrictions put upon the membership to only read their own literature.
they also exalt their position which is usually: "only we have the right interpretation because only we have the "truth", consequently jws will not read other interpretations of scripture as they believe these to be "satanic".

I have dozens of commentaries on Revelation, by various denominations, even Catholic. The interpretations differ depending on the theological leanings, but NONE of them come close to Watchtower interpretations. Even the commentaries by Bible Students don't come close to their pompous attitude of "It's all about us."

What did Nelson Barbour Believe about the Ransom?
by pirata inthe book "faith on the march", written by a.h. macmillan, pg 28 states:.
it was right at the time of this disappointment, as russell shows, that a permanent breach began between barbour and russell.
paul's words at i corinthians 15:51, 52, were being wrongly construed, russell had pointed out.

I have the original articles in my files, but too many pages, as there was an ongoing dialog between Barbour, Russell and Paton in the pages of The Herald of the Morning. Basically, Barbour denied that Jesus death redeem mankind. He denied the Biblical view of atonement. The Staple of the Bible Students movement was the ransom for all, which the JW's would later reject. Barbour believed that Jesus died NOT to redeem us, but to show us how we can redeem ourselves. That we had to put under the flesh so that our new creatures would triump, that process would be complete upon death. So Jesus didn't come to earth to die for us, but to show us how to kill the body the sin so that the spirit may live. Later Paton would accept this view. Very new age if you ask me. Those issues of the Herald have been scanned and are online somewhere, I don't have the direct link. RR

144000
by jehovahsheep insince 1879 how many different ones associated with the wts do you think have stated they were of the 144000 ?
for example in 1948 alone there was 25000.with perhaps hundreds of thousands 1st century christians reaching out for the heavenly reward-we can see their premise is ludricious.the wts doctrinal house is built on the shaky foundation of ct russell.

We have to keep in mind as the scriptures say "Many are called, few are chosen", so just because someone claims to the anointed does not guarantee them a spot in heaven. They claim it. but may have never been called. They may have been called, but never adopted by holy spirit, they may have been adopted by the Spirit, but didn't make their "calling abnd election sure". In the last 2,000 years it is estimated that 72 people a year are called to run the race for the high calling, that isn't a whole lot, especially when you consider thqat not all called, finish the race.
You also have to consider that those who are called, chosen and begotten are written in God's book, not man's, so who cares what the Watchtower claims. Revelation 7 tells us that the great crowd is so great that no man can number them, yet at the same time, the leaders at the Watchtower claim to know the number, since they keep records on all members. Go figure!
