Are you Ex's still Christian?

whassup guys.

i've spent most of my web time over the last 2 years at another site full of ex-jdubs...i'd say about 50 people post there on occasion...many of that number regularly.. what struck me from the beginning, as i got to know the people posting there was...how many were now atheists...non-believers in god...the bible...pretty much anything they once held sacred as jw's!.

i dare say...90 some % do not consider themselves christian now!.

Well Joel, some would probably say I went from the frying pan into the fire, but I beg to differ. While I was still serving with the Jehovah's Witnesses, doing my research, I came across the International Bible Students and began studying with them, I eventually resigned my position within the congregations and eventually left altogether, and since that time I have been affiliated with a small Bible Student Church in my area, (some ten years now] I currently serve as an elder, writing, speaking, publishing, witnessing and loving it ... all to the praise of my heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ!

i wonder how many of you having read the 11 chapter of romans, see that the jews have not been rejected of god forever.. seems to me from the above verse that they were blinded to the truth, and that this blindness is temporary ... until the fullness of the gentiles, the gentiles, of course being those who would make up the church class, the bride of christ, the 144,000.. what say ye?.

Does this imply that when the 144,000 are gathered there would be a mass conversion of natural jews?

I wouldn't call it a mass conversion, but Israel will definitely see a time of trouble and it will be then that a remnant will finally come to see the error of their ways, meaning that Jesus was their messiah, "and they shall see him whom they pierced." The rest of mankind will learn the truth during the millennial reihn of Christ and his Church.

Gozz, I think the quote speaks for itself. They emphatically claim that Jesus is Mediator ONLY for the 144,000, where does that leave the 11 plus JW's of the earthly class? Accordingly, the Society likens them to the "alien residence" who associated with the Jews, they are "saved" by association.

The other quote clearly shows that both Jesus and the 144,000 mediate over the world of mankind during the 1000 year reign, the great crowd is part of that "world of mankind." Argue the point all you want, it's there in print. Witnesses are taught to think they have a mediator, but look all you want, you won't find an exact quote anywhere in their publications.

Maybe im missing something very obvious here... but i've highlighted the bits that stick out.
There are a lot more than 144,000 stars and grains of sand...

This is how I see it. In the Genesis account [22:17] we are simply told about Abrahams seed, they were to be the blesser nation, kings and priest. The comparison is simply telling us that Abrahams seed were in two parts, an earthly seed and a heavenly seed. Remember the apostle Paul stated, "To the Jew first," meaning they were to have it all, their cake and eat it too.

However this was all foreign to them, when Jesus came on the scene, he came for a dual purpose, to pay the ransom, and gather up his church, his little flock, those who would reign with him in heaven, "to the Jew first", but most rejected him, and he sent his apostles to go outside of his flock, "I have sheep not of this fold," referring to the gentiles.

Galatians 3:29 tells us that those who believe in Jesus are now part of the seed, Abrahams seed of blessing. Not that gentiles replaced the Jews, no .. only that now the Jews were no longer inclusive, they would have to share. Romans has a lot to say about the Jews and their part in God's plan.

Gozz, the Insight on the Scriptures states:

"The apostle Paul declares that there is “one mediator between God and men, a man, Christ Jesus, who gave himself a corresponding ransom for all”—for both Jews and Gentiles. (1Ti 2:5, 6) He mediates the new covenant between God and those taken into the new covenant, the congregation of spiritual Israel. (Heb 8:10-13; 12:24; Eph 5:25-27) Christ became Mediator in order that the ones called “might receive the promise of the everlasting inheritance” (Heb 9:15); he assists, not the angels, but “Abraham’s seed.” (Heb 2:16) He assists those who are to be brought into the new covenant to be ‘adopted’ into Jehovah’s household of spiritual sons; these eventually will be in heaven as Christ’s brothers, becoming a part with him of the seed of Abraham. (Ro 8:15-17, 23-25; Ga 3:29) He has transmitted to them the promised holy spirit, with which spirit they are sealed and are given a token of what is to come, their heavenly inheritance. (2Co 5:5; Eph 1:13, 14) The total number of those who are finally and permanently sealed is revealed in Revelation 7:4-8 as 144,000." - volume 2, page 362

Keeping in mind that it is taught that Christ is the mediqtor ONLY for the 144,000 and that the New Covenant is made ONLY with the 144,000, where does that leave the so called "other sheep" the "great Crowd?" The Society' states:

"While Jesus’ mediatorship operates solely toward those in the new covenant, he is also God’s High Priest and the Seed of Abraham. In fulfilling his duties in these latter two positions, he will bring blessings to others of mankind, for all the nations are to be blessed by means of Abraham’s seed. Those in the new covenant are first blessed by Christ, the primary Seed (Ga 3:16, 29), being brought in as associate members of the seed. Being made kings and priests by reason of the new covenant that he mediated, they will share in administering the blessings of Jesus’ sacrifice and of his Kingdom rule to all the nations of the earth. Christ’s mediatorship, having accomplished its purpose by bringing “the Israel of God” into this position, thus results in benefits and blessings to all mankind.—Ga 6:16; Ge 22:17, 18.
There are, thus, others not of the 144,000 “sealed” ones who also pray to Jehovah God in the name of Christ, putting faith in the merit of his ransom sacrifice. This sacrifice is not only for those for whom Jesus mediates the new covenant but also for all mankind expressing faith in Christ. (1Jo 2:2) These not in the new covenant also appreciate that “there is not another name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must get saved.” (Ac 4:12) They, too, look to Jesus Christ as their great heavenly High Priest, through whom they can approach God and through whose ministration they can get forgiveness of sin. (Heb 4:14-16) Revelation 21:22-24 points out that ‘the nations will walk in the light of New Jerusalem,’ where Jehovah God is the light and the Lamb Jesus Christ is the lamp."

Too often we have to read between the lines, in the older publications the thoughts are stated very emphatically, in the years past, the Society has had to resort to double-talk, because of the stigma it caused the JW's, as they realized that Jesus was not their mediator or that they were under the new covenant.

Who really is the FDS?!?!?!?!?

hey all, hope you're having a great year so far.. before witnet was closed down, there was an interesting discussion regarding the fds and their failed prophecies.

i asked a question, but unfortunately there wasn't enought time to get everyone's view.. so i'll rephrase my posts, and wait to hear from y'all.. if we are so quick to say that the fds is a false prophet because of some failed prophecies (even tho they say they don't prophecy, we all know better) then how would you explain the bible book of jonah?.

a faithful prophet, jonah, followed (after much trial and tribulation to himself) jehovah's command to declare destruction on the city of nineveh.

I would agree that that seems to be the motto of many of the Churches today, including the Jehovah's Witnesses.

The Society teaches that if you don't become a JW, you will perish, the Churches teach that if you don't become a Christian you will burn in hell.

So both teach a fear tactic.

Interestingly, C.T. Russell did not teach either, as he believed that EVERYONE will be resurrected and have another opportunity to learn the truth, that is what the Kingdom was for, an educational 100 year reign. In the end, of course, those who do not conform after having been enlightening, will be non existent.

This is the view I take.

Actually, it's quite simple, the Society teaches:

Jesus is the mediator between Jehovah annd the 144,000. The 144,000 is then the mediator between the great crowd and Jehovah, NOW and then to the world during the 1000 year reign.
