  what happend to covington.

  i understand he left to org after being told he couldnt be on the gb because he wasn't anointed.

  i'dd like to get some confirmation on that if anyone knows.. .

  Covington was the vice president of the Society, and by law should have moved up to the position of President, however, that might have been the demise of the Watchtower Society. Nathan knorr talked him out of being president and was himself elected to that position since he was third in command. Shortly afterwards, Knorr dismissed him, because as he put it, you need to be anointed to be an officer/director, despite the fact that there was no governing body at that time. The President held ALL power! That was something added to the by-laws by Rutherford when he wiggled hinslef into that position.

  Eventually Covington was DF'd, and some years later reinstated, a few years later he died!

  Ephesians 1:1....

  this one scripture has bothered me for a while.

  i've asked elders everywhere on this one and just get confused looks.... according to a wt in 1953, the nwt rendering of 1:1 at the time was: "paul, an apostle of christ jesus thru god's will, to the holy ones who are also faithful ones in union with christ jesus.".

  wouldn't the correct rendering be: "paul, an apostle of christ jesus thru god's will, to the holy ones who are [in ephesus] who are also faithful ones in union with christ jesus."???

  The nature of God

  i submit, for your consideration that the lord of love and forgiveness, the lord of the whole universe, taught by jesus was not the same as the god of the ancient hebrews who they call "jehovah".

  indeed, historically, the ancient "people of jehovah" were the worst enemies of both jesus and the early christians.

  in the hebrew scriptures, the god called jehovah is a wargod and local god, credited with every kind of atrocitiy and brutality.

  uh oh

  ...my husband just got laid off, again.

  the big job the company had been promised fell through.. this is the second time in three months, but this time they said that the company will most likely.

  I never had problems getting a job, it was always holding on to a job that was my problem, companies, folding, relocating, merging, filing bankruptcy, etc.

  When Reagan too office, we had that little recession, I was out of work for some 18 months, sent out over 1000 resumes, received two intervieww, with the same company and still didn't get the job, they did call me AFTER I was settled.

  All I can say, is if you have faith in God, as I do, then things work out. Jesus stated that we shouldn't woryy about the things of life, because the Father knows we need these things, that's not to mean you're going to receive a paycheck from God in the mail, it simply means things work out. David said in proverbs, he never saw one of the Lord's children without bread.

  I know in my case, we were living on one income, the bills came in, the bills always outweighed the income, yet every month the bills got paid and ON time. It defied all mathematics .... hey who am I to question. Prov. 3:5,6

  What Was THE Straw That Broke Your "Camel'...

  there are lots of outrageous things that have happened to each of us in our longer or shorter association with the jay-dubs.

  but it's amazing sometimes what teeny things have been the final straw.. being raised as a jw, i swallowed most stuff whole my entire life.

  then, as a teen began to question some things, but waited patiently for jehovah to straightened things out.

  i had a hard time convincing--nay, believing--that we lived in such baaaad times.

  jws have the belief that times are bad, so we had the task of convincing the householders of that.

  RR, since the WTBS has changed their position on the length of the generation, how does that affect the length of the 'last days'? It seems there is no definitive length to them now.

  I don't know, you'd have to ask a Jehovah's Witness, I've been out of the picture for some years :)

  But you are right .... the new light, which is actually old light, something C.T. Russell taught way back when, actually postpones the end of the world as we know it to an undetermined time in the future.

  New Heavens and New Earth

  i've been taught as a j.w.

  that the "new heavens" is made up of 144,000 annointed christians and the "new earth" are those that will inhabit the earth in a paradise.

  i've noticed a sundry of differing minds on this site and i would appreciate any different takes on this scripture found at isaiah and 2 peter thanks still nothing.

  I agree that the 'New Heavens'spoken of in Isaiah is Jehovah's ruling govenment, and the 'New Earth' is the Kingdom on earth.

  some active witnesses have learned some of the history of the wt teachings.

  yet, they continue to believe in "jehovah's perfect organization".

  they say "we have 'new light' now.

  I agree, I have always said, if the Society was open and honest, they wouldn't have as much trouble with membership. It is really sad that the Society has become what they themselves abhor in Christendom .... organized, babylonish and a second rate vatican!

  Just recently I met a women, who left, a few months ago, ONLt after learning for the first time that the Society taught the end in 1975, I told her 'take a seat, 1975 wasn't the first.'

  Yes, I have been to that site and others like it, these people try so hard, and all they do is babble, with nothing concrete.

  They make it read like some big conspiracy, next, their write that Russell was actually an alien from the planet oz come to bring havoc on earth.

  Willy asked, what would I call proof? Hmmm ... good question, how about pictures, all of the Masonic halls I have seen and been in, have pictures of all their grand "poo-bars" dating back to "day one" have never seen one of Russell, how about some authentic documentation, like a roster with his name, any kind of paperwork that brings his connection to them, other than the Convention Report where he addressed the Masons in a discourse.

  You asked "Have the masons you know ever told you abought other people who are also masons or any masonic rights?" I never asked them about any other persons, not interested!
