A thought about corporate reoganization
by JeffT init seems there have been a number of changes in the wtbs corporations over the last few years, as well as changes in meetings etc.
maybe somebody has already thought of this and i missed it.
this thought was sparked by the thread about them going after another website quoting their material.. i think the watchtower is about to divide its religious and secular functions completely.

I discussed this a few years ago. If you remember when the new corporations were incorporated some years ago. The members of the Governing Body weere no longer board members of ANY of the corporation. It was stated that they were going to focus more on spiritual things and leave the day to day activities of publishing in the hands of the "other ssheep".
The question asked and never answered is is there a corporation for the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses? How do they actually "control" the borg? Each corporation has its own board members, none of the board members overlap into other corporations, as in the past the GB were the board on ALL the corporations. What's keeping the board from NY from separating from the board of PA? Or the CC of JW from separating? Who owns the all the assests?
In Russell's day, the Society was nothing more than a publishing house, a business. the congregations were all separate and autonomous, the Judge took over and took control of those congregationss and individuals willing to give up their Christian freedom. The rest is history.
Is it possible that some day there will be a schism between the Watchtower Society and the Christian Congregation of JW's? Who knows!

New Book on Witness History
by Old Goat ini've been following the truthhistory.blogspot.com watchtower history blog almost since it was started.
it's probably the only authoritative web site dealing with early watch tower history.
the blog owner has just published a history of nelson barbour, one of russell's first associates.

THE NEW COVENANT ADVOCATE - is there a request?
by RR inokay, before i make them available, who is interested in the complete set of e.c.
henninges journal, the new covenant advocate?.
henninges started the largest schism in the bible students next to the 1917 schism, when in 1909 he challenged russell on his views of the new covenant.

HI Leo, I've never seen any photos of Rose Ball, at least none that I can remember. She survive E.C. and took over the editorial of the journal. She also wrote poems that were published in the volumes and Tabernacle Shadows. After the split they were still published, but she was no longer credited, actually, only her initials appeared in the early editions.

Okay, before I make them available, who is interested in the complete set of E.C. Henninges journal, THE NEW COVENANT ADVOCATE?
Henninges started the largest schism in the Bible Students next to the 1917 schism, when in 1909 he challenged Russell on his views of the New Covenant. He was the branch manager in the U.K. before Russell sent him to Australia. He married Rose Ball [Henninges].
THE NEW COVENANT ADVOCATE was published from 1909 to 1944. I have ALL the issues. If you're interested let me know so I can get to work!

Beard stories. Nothing but beards.
by Open mind ini've done a jwn search on beards and had some great reads.. i've learned the history of russell vs. rutherford and knorr and the hippies.. here's what i'd like to hear about.. either you or someone you know who grew a beard and the fallout because of it.. for me, i'd love to hear about the squeaky clean elder who decided to grow a beard and got removed because of it.. katie kitten, from england, on another thread told the story of her dad, the squeaky clean elder who grew a beard in the 70's and got away with it.. i don't think that would happen in california 2009.. anyway, what are your beard stories?.
i'm all ears.
(and my ears are freshly plucked.

I remember the C.O. visiting and had a fit when he saw some of the elders and servants with that little piece of hair under the bottom lip.I remember handling the literature counter and one of the elders came us to a bunch of us and told us that we had to shave off the hair. I was the only who didn't. I told the elder "show me in the scriptures where I can't have it."
