Most unintentionally funny scene in a movie

in the original superman, where superman sticks the flag back on top the white house, and says "i stand for truth, justice, and the american way"; this never failed (the couple of times i saw it in the cinema as a kid) to reduce the audiences to tears of laughter (in enlgand).. in the blair witch project, where she's doing the "i'm sorry" bit in the super-big-close-up nostril shot; hilarious.. the bit in jurassic park where the lawyer gets eaten; the audience i was with cheered.... .

Speaking of Jeff Daniels what about the toilet scene in Dumb and Dumber!(after jim carrey sneaked Turbo Lax into his nightcap)
whoops that was intentional but I think some people hate toilet humour

Abaddon I don't know which Superman you saw but at the end of my copy of Superman2 he flies across the white house lawn with the top of the dome and a flag on top(look closely...the background is a still photo...the fountain is frozen in midstream!!)
Anyway he then plops the flag in position and says "sorry Mr President...I won't let you down again"

what i am talking about a movie that you thought was great, but is mostly forgotten by most people today.. well, my favorite overlooked movie is "a perfect world.

" in it kevin costner is an escaped felon who escapes from prison with another felon.

they then break into a house and kidnap a boy who is a (gasp!

Pioneer Blues

when i was heavily into the borg (before marriage to jw followed by dissapointment and dissillusion)i knew an interesting sister from new york who often visited england and actually stayed in my (parents)home about 1989.she gave me an audio tape of some witness band(i think they were in bethel) which tape had 2 tracks about jw's preaching etc.they were both excellent and very funny.one was called "pioneer blues" and the other "going to the kingdom hall".does anybody remember this stuff.

(incidentally in typical witness style the music was condemned by the borg heirarchy and the bros in question were counselled for producing so called negative songs about the witnesses!).

i have the tape still!!!

when i started studying again, i got the guilts and threw out lots of stuff.

over 200 cd's - goth, punk, industrial, rock, pop, classical, you name it, i threw it.

i got rid of my witchcraft books, astrology books, crystal ball, tarot cards, even my damn nintendo.

What's the point of the Awake?

admittedly it's been a long time since i've read an awake and i can't remember much about what's in it but doesn't it contain a bunch of superficial articles with a general interest theme?

like a poor mans readers digest?

i was recently wondering what the purpose of the awake is?

The purpose of the Awake!(why the exclamation mark?)is to use it in door to door work to cover up the Watchtower magazine underneath (which compared to the watchtower is "must read"stuff)...so that the publisher might have at least half a chance of selling them.

Good story Wick...It's a shame that we have to lose friends when we come out. I have a wonderful friend who I encouraged to pioneer and go abroad.He is now pioneering in the Dominican Republic!When he hears about my being inactive(he probably already has)he'll flip.
Be interesting to see if he tries to contact me for a pep talk.He's a great bloke.Funny how your elder's wife friend called you a baptist just for quoting from the bible!!Unbelievable:(
I've not had many visits yet just one elder who originally was very weak in the truth when I was strong and he uses the line "you encouraged me when I was down so now it's my turn etc"..but he's still comes across as an old friend(at the moment anyway)
I'm hoping to just fade away.....pigs might fly:)

Anyone go to an Internatinal Convention????

i know i've posted about this in the past, but there are so many new people, and sooooo many lurkers i thought i'd bring it up again.

i went on 2 convetion tours and have to admit we had a wonderful time.

i also made some really good friends from all over that i haven't been able to keep in touch with.

I went to Sheffield 1976 International Convention
It was that really hot British scorcher summer and I was only 8 years old and I got terrible sunstroke...spent entire assembly in sick room throwing up and delirious.Sucked big time.I did manage to be a drink vendor though(heavy wooden thing with drinks of orange,cheap chocolate and sweets)Got a pic somewhere .. when I sort out my scanner I'll post it
