It's just one more piece of bad publicity, added onto all of the other scandals coming their way. Every bit helps.

Dinosaurs
by finnrot inbelieve it or not kiddies, lisa (ldh) and i have been on this website when you were still growing your baby teeth.
i have brought up this subject many years ago, so i will resurrect it again.
when i was a kid, i used to look at my green bible as i sat totally bored in the kingdom hall and looked at the cool donosaurs on the inside cover of the green bible.

The best part about the dinosaur is that the dots above its head lend themselves very nicely to the drawing of a thought bubble, and don't touch the titties. They're pretty nice, for a man.

I always loved the picture of the Dinosaur inside the cover of the old green Bible. I'm sure I have a couple copies tucked away in boxes in my basement. I always wondered if they were stupid enough to believe that dinosaurs coexisted with ancient humans.

Although I agree that healthy diet, exersize, good attitude, etc, etc, can go a long way to making a person healthier, I have to raise a flag of caution around fad diets when it comes to serious illnesses. My son has Chron's, and we have investigated and tried many of the diet cures. Our experience has been enlightening, but very disappointing.
For example, the Specific Carbohydrate Diet caused an immediate flare up, and actually made most of the rest of the family sick as well. (We all go on the diet, for support). Jordan Rubin's "Maker's Diet" is nothing but a fraud, as is he himself. His book is filled with deceptions and outright lies. We tried the fish oils, probiotics, and omega 3 fatty acids. At best, they did nothing. At worst, they made the condition worse, since oils tend to have a laxative effect.
In the end, we finally put him back on just about everything - avoiding only the foods that we know bother him. He is healthier and heavier than ever. His gastroenterologist agrees with this conclusion. In fact, he told us this before we started the experiments. -

I've been on Lipitor (atorvastatin calcium) for several years now. It works like magic, there are no side effects, and I can eat anything I want.

WALKING THE WATCHTOWER TIGHTROPE
by Terry inever go to a circus and watch the tightrope walkers go from one end of the stretched line to the other balancing precariously along the way?.
it is only compelling to watch because one good slip could plunge the hapless performer to their doom!
the balancing act, then; becomes a question of getting from point a to point b without dying!

Good point. I agree that many of their doctrines and practices were adopted simply to be different. For example, they don't call their churches churches. They don't call their hymns hymns. And for many years, they denied that they were a religion. I also think that forbidding Christmas, birthdays, school sports and dances, etc, were done simply to isolate JW youth, making them easier to control.
The blood doctrine was probably the most obvious plea for attention - a belief designed to stand out. -

There is a "Peace and Security" event that will be forever etched on my brain. I think it was in 1979, on a Sunday night. Battlestar Galactica (the old, shitty one) was interupted because Jimmy Carter had brokered a treaty between Israel and Egypt called...... drum roll ....... the "Peace and Security Pact". Well, if that wasn't the clearest indication of the imminence of the end, I don't know what is.

Post your JW demon stories
by M.J. init seems that for jws, the demon thing is one of the few "eyewitness" confirmations of what the wts says.
there seems to be such an atmosphere of confirming testimonials that the jws relate back and forth to each other...but are they factual accounts or simply recycled "urban legends"?.
interestingly, the most dramatic demon stories are nearly always something that happened to someone else.. why is it that jws have seen more "demons" than anyone i've ever known in my life?

Show us your picture
by Honesty in.
that is, if you are able to without the prospect of facing a three-man kangaroo court appointed by jerhover to keep the congregation clean from apostate influences.. i'll go first: .

Well, time to come out of the closet. The first picture was taken during my brief bearded phase - a manadatory rite of passage of all JWs on their journey out. It itched like hell, so I reverted to the clean cut look in the next picture. Both pics are a couple years old. I'm much better looking now.
Indecent propositions can be sent to me by PM.

Hmmm. If she had been asking God to strike her with lightning, it would have made a case for the efficacy of prayer.
