Well, I guess I'm safe. If Jebus comes after me at Armagedon riding a three legged, twisted up mare, I can probably outwalk him.

We also have POUTINE
I find that word very disturbing.
I mean, anything that contains thick brown liquid and gooey white globs, should not start with the prefix "poo".

New Light Extravagansa!!
by jefferywhat ina lot of people are in a little fuss about the generation change, which as far as im concerned, doesn't change anything, it could be step one of a bigger adjustment down the track, but on its own, its been done.
but at the annual meeting of the wtbs, there wasn't 1 but 5 changes of thought, the light has literally exploded.
one that has caught my attention is the the change on the dragnet of matthew 13. if you have wt 92 6/15 read it!

It seems like all of the society's teachings have a common element with numerology. They take every insignificant detail and great and unwarranted significance to it. In the end, it becomes so convoluted that it could really mean anything.
It's hard to believe that people can lap up this crap with a straight face.
For me, when I was in, I noticed this regarding the interpretation of the three Jerusalem's - Jerusalem above, heavenly Jerusalem, and another one that I can't remember. I'll call it Jerusalem the car dealership.
They had interpreted the hell out of all three of these to the point where each one was basically a doctrine in itself. I remember that this issue really made me realize that they were just flying by the seat of their pants.

Six Congos Not Merging But Splitting Expenses
by Clam inhttp://www.syracuse.com/articles/news/index.ssf?/base/news-12/1195466329169760.xml&coll=1.
jehovah's witnesses to share city site .
former brigadier hall in syracuse will serve six county congregations.

Why does this surprise anyone?
Most of the cities in my area have an assembly hall that subdivides into three or four halls, which are then shared by half a dozen congregations. It is efficient and makes sense.
It does tend to be less convenient, as the drones have to drive further, but it saves money and permanently reserves a spot for circuit assemblies.

Jephthah's daughter.
by Awakened07 ini suddenly remembered the story of jephthah's daughter, or rather, the way the watchtower interprets it.
the story can be found in judges 11, from verse 29. .
now the story loosely goes like this; jephthah wants to go against the ammonites and - as is par for the course - slay them all.

Well, that pretty much wraps up that. Especially Nark's third link.

Actually, no, the jury's not out on this one. The appologists try to explain around the obvious abhorrent actions of one of their heros and their god, but the scripture clearly said that he promised to offer his daughter as a "burnt offering" and then it says that "he did just so".
Additionally, why is anyone surprised that God gladly accepted a human sacrifice? It wasn't either the first or the last time. In fact, the central act of Christianity is based on human sacrifice. Consider these examples:
- Ex 22:29 - "The firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me."
- The last chapter of leviticus (27) lists the values of humans. Each age and gender is worth a specified number of pieces of silver. Any persons devoted to destruction as burnt offerings are not to be redeemed - they must be put to death without fail.
- God commanded Abraham to sacrifice Isaac
- Jesus was a human sacrifice
- 2 Sam 21:6-14 - After 7 people were hanged “God was entreated for the land”.
- Numbers 31:40 - The Lord’s tribute was 32 persons

in the midst of 'moon landing hoax' theories
I honestly cannot believe that anyone is still beating that drum. If you have any lingering doubts on any part of the moon landing hoax claims, I suggest bringing them up over that the "Bad Astronomy" discussion board and allowing them to enthusiastically beat it out of you.

The guy seems to have just the right balance of scholarship and self deluded lunacy for this project.
I say go for it. We're throwing all the exposure and embarassment at the society that we possibly can. Let's bring on the splinter groups.

Is agnostic different from athiest? How so?
by wanderlustguy ini know the answer, because i am agnostic.
it is strange to me that people assume if you say you are agnostic that it means you don't believe in god.
from wiki.... agnostics claim either that it is not possible to have absolute or certain knowledge of the existence or nonexistence of god or gods; or, alternatively, that while individual certainty may be possible, they personally have no knowledge.
-
RunningMan
You know, when you think about it, agnostics are one of the only groups in the world that you can insult with impunity.
I mean, you never hear the phrases "an angry mob of agnostics" or "agnostic jihad". Imagine an "agnostic inquisition" where people are tortured with thumb screws until they admit that there may or may not be a god. And, you never have to worry about having an agnostic fatwa put out on you.
I'm starting to like agnostics more and more all the time.

The reference to the mascot was a nice touch.
However, I find the name "Doris" to be inconsistent with the persons actions. I think you should come up with a name that is a little more Jezebelish.
